TWO DEAR Find-A-Grave FRIENDS have passed on. They were and are still loved by many at this site; as well as by their families. If you have the time please leave a token of friendship on their memorial sites. Marjorie Barringer became a Heavenly Angel on the 16th of September and Ann Howard got her angel wings the 23rd of October. Let them and their loved ones know they are not forgotten.

Hi, I'm a retired educator. I've been working on genealogy since 1961. It has become a passion. My family has been keeping records for more than a hundred and twenty-five years. I have records for many surnames. Type in last name under contributor's records on the right; then just ask if you think we might share ancestors.
Find A Grave has helped me locate burials of ancestors who were lost. I'm very appreciative of the people who have posted memorials for those cherished souls.

♥♥♥♥ Blessings to all who visit my ancestors and family. Your tokens and comments are greatly appreciated. If I fail to acknowledge your visits, know your thoughts are sincerely taken to heart by us in the family. ♥♥♥♥

Please, if you have a moment, visit my precious son Travis; a silent pain I live with every day. Many thanks to all who stop and visit him; it truly warms my heart.

RE: Henriette Troup
I am doing further research on Henrietta Troup and James Pullen. I have found family trees stating that Henrietta Troup Pullen is the daughter of James Throop, son of famous Revolutionary War soldier, Benjamin Throop. Very mysteriously, I can't find any records of the life and/or death of James Throop. Do you have proof of the lineage of Great-grandmother Henrietta Troupe? The Throops had a settlement in Canada, and Great-grandfather James Pullen and Henrietta were married in Canada. I have found their marriage certificate.

Also, I have evidence that my great-grandfather Charles William Pullen, husband of my great-grandmother Elizabeth Rhodes Bender Pullen married a third time in California and is buried there. I have not been able to find a divorce certificate for Great-grandma Elizabeth and Great-grandpa Charles. I know this sound like a soap opera, but I am a truth seeker.

I guess (hope) we are related.

Your relative(?) and friend,

Valerie

P.S. Thanks for the info about Great-grandpa Leonard Phillips.

RE: Col. Thomas James Venham #7931630
My Venham side has always been a mystery, but using my Ancestry tree hints, I found a record for the marriage of my Rebecca Venham (3rd gr-grandmother) to Wilson Martin in 1838 took place in Tyler County, Virginia (now W.VA). The couple moved to Sardis, Ohio, so I thought her father, whose name was Ray, was from there, too. I always assumed Ray was short for Raymond. No wonder I was hitting a brick wall. I have proceeded to put together his lineage using others' family trees, which is something I am hesitant about doing, but it seems to fit into place pretty much, showing his parents as George and Mary from Ann Arundel County, VA. Do you know what country the family emigrated from?

I was excited to find his Memorial. I believe that my 4th great-grandfather Ray Venham was his brother. This has been an elusive family to piece together. I'm relying on other family trees at Ancestry to do so. I knew my 3rd great-grandmother, Rebecca Venham, was married in Tyler Co., VA (now W.VA), where the family part of the family resided, so the puzzle pieces seem to be falling in place.

Edits on memorials that you have
I would gladly leave information on my blood relatives that you have done memorials for that are not your blood relatives except that my dear cousin, you seem to think that my information is somehow erroneous. You also seem to think the same of our common blood relatives.
I remind you that our grandparents were siblings, Uncle Addie being 18 years younger than my Grandmother, making my father 6 years younger than your grandfather.
So by Find a Grave rules, I guess we are on an equal playing field as far as blood relatives are concerned.
I would like to have stewardship of my blood relatives who are not your relatives. But I suppose that is up to you, I would just like to know that if you do not relinquish that stewardship, that my information will be accepted.

I thought that the reason for this whole exercise was to put accurate information out there. I do not consider names on a census to be proof of nicknames as so often poor handwriting and poor spelling occurred in these documents. My Aunt Valeria was never listed anywhere as Sis or Aunt Sis yet that was what she was called by all of us.

So, do you need help with your Woodards?

Not angry, just want to be crystal clear.

Best,
Stella

You are most welcome for the transfer. I realized there were some wrong enteries, but I do not know how they got there. Hopefully you can make the necessary corrections.
