I am very actively pursuing family information. I maintain an Ancestry.com tree, and my brother and I have family photo sites on Smug Mug, where we display the photos we get from family members and kind souls who share on these programs in hopes of preserving and sharing them with all families who need them. It occurred to me when going through my mother and grandmother's huge trunks full of photos that it was sad for one family to have all those treasures and not share. And, so began my many, many hours of scanning and sharing photos and information.|
I also enjoy visiting other memorials and cemetaries and adding flowers, pictures or data to memorials that have no information, or very little. My husband and I walk through cemetaries quite often, and find the headstones so interesting. I love adding to the history of these people, and it grieves me to find one that says "unknown" on a headstone. Genealogy has become a true passion.
My lines are Duncan, Mather, Dodson, Smith, Moore, Bullion, Curtis, Whitehead, Barron, Reid, and you know how that goes - many more! I am happy to share information and photos with those seeking help, and so very much appreciate all that is shared with me.
I live in the Hill Country of Texas, am married, and enjoying retirement.
Please feel free to use my information and any photos I have posted. I do not understand the fuss about using someone's photos. If they are sacred and personal, then don't post them, is my philosophy. We are all here to help one another and share for this and future generations. So many photos get lost in fires, animals getting into boxes, etc., so why keep them private? After we are all gone, our grandchildren and gr-grandchildren will someday be searching for images and information, and if I took it with me, they would be left at a loss. There are so many members in my family who suffered fires, floods, tornados, and other losses. But, at one time they DID have a photo of "Great Uncle John", however, now due to some unforseen circumstance, it's lost forever..... Think about it.
God bless and and Happy Trails..

Is Blanket Springs Cemetery on private property, Smith Ranch? I found a second memorial for Mary G. Hays Baker, #6399016. It states that her grave is on private property and it is unknown where it is; she died giving birth and was buried there. They also have a picture of her gravestone. According to this memorial, Mary Baker was born Feb. 5, 1845 and died Mar. 21, 1886. The stone is cracked across the death date and I believe it is recorded inaccurately. I put in a photo request for her from Blanket Springs Cemetery, but I realize the cemetery may not be accessible. I have contacted the member who created the other memorial for Mary Hays. His last name is Baker so he may be related. I am waiting to hear from him. It is difficult to find this memorial because there is no cemetery location, but there is the memorial #6399016.

Thank you for the information for Lawrence. I see you have sponsored his memorial. Are you family? Would you like me to transfer him to you? I really like it when family comes together. Thanks again, Leah

Hi Lynda I saw where u had a memorial for Martha Heffington-Spears Davee placed in 2012. I had already placed on in 2011 with links to family. Please remove yours. Thanks Becky

I have made the corrections and transfered the memorials. Side note... I noticed that a maiden name was STEPHENS from KY. I have alot of Stephens in my tree from the same region. I wonder if our trees cross?

Are you related to Charles Gillen? I am distantly related to him. How do I find your tree on ancestry.com? I would love to see it. I also have several trees on ancestry. Also how do I find Smug Mug so I can look at you and your brothers pictures, I have never heard of this site? It is wonderful that you are sharing your pictures I would someday like to have a picture for everyone in my tree's. I know it is nearly impossible but I am doing my best to accomplish it and when I read your bio I thought you might have some pictures I am looking for if you are related to the Gillen line.
Thank you for all the wonderful work you do for findagrave it is a blessing for those of us searching for our ancestors. I am disabled and don't get out of the house much so I have to rely on what I can find on the internet and findagrave is a treasure. I look forward to hearing from you.
