~~~A Man Stays Alive as long as he's remembered, Once Forgotten He Dies~~~
"To forget one's ancestors is to be a brook without a source, a tree without a root." Chinese proverb
My researching of family began, after the birth of my grandson Max in 1997, when my daughter-in-law gave me a version of Family Tree Maker. As a child I always loved mysteries. I read my mother's Ellery Queen novels, watched Perry Mason episodes and my favorite board game was Clue. I always thought how challenging it would be to work as a detective. I guess, in my own way, I do.
I firmly believe that our ancestors deserve more than just dates on their memorials. It is because of that philosophy that I try to add as much of the information that is available to me. Thank you for either your help or your understanding when I fall short.
The surnames I am searching and recording;
from my paternal side are:
Gibson, Keller, Miller, Ploehs, Reed, Walkinshaw
&
from my maternal side, they are:
Beamer, Cunningham, Nelson, Peterson, Park, Parke, Parks, Perrell, Snow and Wiseman
On my husband's tree there are the following:
Mutscher, Oldendorf, vonGunden
The surname originated from 'von Gunten,' i.e. from the village of Gunten on Lake Thun in Kanton Bern, Switzerland. Hans von Gunten appeared in 1703 and 1704.
For those who wonder...
Why the number of memorials managed is higher than the number of memorials created?
This is due to some generous F*A*G contributors who decided to transfer some of their memorials to myself and others.
Thank you...
I feel honored to be one of the recipients entrusted to care for these postings.
"The measure of a woman's character is not what she gets from her ancestors, but what she leaves her descendants."
"A monument is erected
not because a person died,
but because a person lived."
