A Southern California native, I moved to Wisconsin in 2011 after a six-year stint in Westchester County, New York. I was diagnosed with Stage III-A colon cancer in 2011, the day before my 55th birthday, and given a two-year window. I used the time to visit all the state historical society's historical markers (532 at the time) "and anything else I encountered along the way". My website, "Wisconsin Historical Markers" has posts to more than 6,000 Wisconsin historical markers and sites, museums, and veterans memorials, and contains the largest digital collection of its kind anywhere online. I am especially moved by the veterans memorials, and add photos to this site when appropriate to honor the servicemen/women who have served our country, and especially to those who gave their lives.
