Bio

Dear Reader,

These small efforts to find the graves of those I love are dedicated to my Grandma Martha Wyss Perdelwitz and Mother Eleanore Perdelwitz Mode. They both were passionate about keeping up with family records. I hope my children will one day be able to use this information when they are looking for their ancesters so this is a gift to them. I am glad to welcome my daughter as my partner in this project. The email on this page will reach us both for this website and family history purposes. Please don't use it for other topics.

There are many kind people creating these memorials. Thanks to all the volunteers who created pages for my family and provided photos! I will send requests for management transfer of memorial pages of some people to whom I am related, if the manager is not a relative. I am creating memorial pages of family when I find there is no memorial for them here. I've also created memorial pages for relatives of my children who were not on Find a Grave. If you are a closer relative or would like to manage a memorial that I created or had transfered to me, I'll be happy to transfer it. Also, if there is a family account for managing ancesters, I'd be happy to transfer memorials. We all could use some help. I could be wrong about some information, so please let me know if I've made a mistake or you have more information.

A special thanks to those who are dedicated to photographing graves in rural places in IA, IL, MN and ND.

I have noticed that many people have something on their profiles about being polite and showing compassion and understanding for people in grief. I have had mostly positive experiences but I also had a negative experience as so many people apparently have had. I always say please and thank you and I always apologize if I cause any unintended offense. Let's do what we can to make this website a caring and respectful community.

I would like to pay forward the kindness of this community. One way I can do this is by putting photo requests out there. Since we have a limited number of photo requests available in a given time period, I will do my best to help people with this by using my extra ones. Send me the link to someone you want a photo request for when you have run out of requests, and I will put the request out there.

I am entering information at familysearch.org about the people whose graves I am tracking. Other relatives have already entered some information, so thanks to them! There is also information on all these people in other ancestry databases, both free and paid.

Some of the names I am tracking are less common, some are very common. Some are from my side of the family, some are from my husbands's side.

Mode, Hansen - Mode is a Swedish soldier's surname Mod or Modig meaning "courageous", Hansen is a Danish surname meaning son of Hans, our Modes from Sweden and Hansens from Denmark settled in MN, U.S.A.

Perdelwitz, Wyss - Perdelwitz may refer to an area in southern Poland, people who left that area called themselves son's of the area, Wyss or Wyß is one of the most ancient Swiss-German surnames of Alamanni origin derivatived from Proto-Germanic wīs meaning "wise", our Perdelwitz's from Germany settled in KN, U.S.A. and Wyss's from Switzerland setteled in IL, U.S.A.

Flinsch, Gunther - Flinsch is a surname that refers to a skilled craftsman/artist and comes from Austria/Hungery/Germany, Gunther is derived from an ancient Saxon compound name meaning "war-army", as a surname it was used to refer to a soldier, many Roman soldiers who settled in Saxony were refered to by a Latinized version of Gunther, our Flinsch's and Gunther's from Germany settled in NJ, U.S.A.,

Sausto, D'Amato - Sausto is likely a compound surname that refers to trade (winemakers, winemerchants) and marriage/trade agreements with German/Dutch families, D'Amato refers to the southern area of Italy where the origional Italians were from, in Northern Italy it is associated with Italian/Norman ancestry and grape growing/produce trading, our Sausto's and D'Amato's from Italy settled in New York, NY, U.S.A.

Much Love to All,
Martha-Lisa
