Bio and Links
Bio Photo My name is Tonya Sapp Hames. I was born & raised in Laurens, SC & lived there for 25 years. I now live in Ladson, SC, with my husband, Stephen, and son, Christian.

I stumbled upon FAG by accident when I Googled my father, Robert E. Sapp, who passed away in 1991 & his name came up on this website. I have always been fascinated by genealogy. I have mostly been researching the following family names: Sapp, Nelson, Moore, Helms, Ball, Story, Belk, Kell, Woody, Fuller, Campbell, Richards, Myers, & Taylor; along with Hames, Crowder, Gregory, Kirkley, & West. However, along the way I have been doing other genealogy work as well. I am a FAG County Keeper emeritus for Dorchester Co., SC.

If you have any information that may help me with my research, please feel free to contact me. Also, when reviewing any of my work, if you see that I have made any error, no matter how large or small, please do not hesitate to contact me & let me know. I will ask, that when contacting me, you please do so in a respectful manner & allow for the corrections to be made. As FAG is NOT my full-time job, I do NOT work on my FAG information everyday, therefore, quick fix items will be taken care of in a more timely manner than other items which may take more research to complete.

Grave Marker Mistake
Dear Tonya Sapp Hames, Thank you for all you do to contribute to find a grave burial sites. You stated on my ancestors site that if you spotted a mistake large or small to let you know. Well, I found a little mistake. The year on the infant Lacey boy's death is listed as 1928 but I distinctly see 1938. Could you please take another look at it please. This is very important to me. Thank you. Sincerely, Sheryl Merritt

I have added a photo of the grave plot as defined by the cemetery office and deleted the unknown icon.
However, I have a concern about the "contest" you seem to refer to. As previously stated I am not interested in numbers of photos added. To make a contest of this reminds me of the Roman Soldiers casting lots for the garments of Jesus at the foot of the cross. Memorials are to honor the decease, nor for the purpose of a "game". I strongly believe that findagrave should not tract the number of memorials a contributor enters.
I always thank contributors when they enter a photo I am seeking and very often receive a "you are very welcomed" in return.
I became interested in findagrave when a contributor in Virginia entered a photo of a first cousin I had not seen since 1947 and had no idea of his family status. From contact with his widow was able to learn of locations of other family members. I only hope I am similarly helping another person. SEM

Please advise when you have added the notations you desire and I will delete the appropriate icons. Please provide memorial numbers for verification purposes.

RE: Cora Bragg Owens Hitchner
I DO NOT CARE about the numbers game you refer to, only about accuracy. To not show that a grave is unmarked when the location is proven and is proven to be unmarked is not helping another person (relative?) locate the grave. The location should be recorded and recorded accurately. SEM

RE: Donald Rudolph Wyatt
Don't know which obits you read but the ones we checked in the local paper said Calvary Memorial at Laurens (NOT CLINTON). We did not check this ahead(assuming your info was accurate) and wasted considerable time walking Calvary Clinton where you had these memorials located. Calvary-Laurens has now been added and plans are to visit the cemetery next week to locate the graves you entered Calvary-Clinton.
Noticed another person had also previously wasted time looking for the graves in Clinton.

RE: Donald Rudolph Wyatt
In respect to the 20+ names you have entered Calvary Cemetery-Clinton we have learned they are in Calvary Memorial-Laurens. Will you please in the future verify burial locations before entering photo requests? This will save a lot of people a lot time. Thank you for your cooperation.

RE: Cora Bragg Owens Hitchner
I'm sorry but I disagree with your request. By placing this info it will keep other people from needlessly walking the cemetery. Have used this in many cases (my family) with no complaints.
