|Sally Randol-Hardy||Math Major|
I just saw that you are also a math major. Genealogy is perfect for CPA's, engineers and math majors!
I am also a math major and my husband is an engineer. ACCURATE genealogy requires analytical skills - which draws me. Your organization, clarity and "pondering" shows the same "solving the problem" techniques that math is all about.
Yay! "Math is our friend"
|Sally Randol-Hardy||RE: Alco Cemetery at Brewton, AL|
I am so appreciative of you efforts = Oh, my GOODNESS!!
You are a thorough genealogist and a wonderful person to try to help.
I am also leaning toward Pilgrim's Rest, but 'will also continue to try to locate John William Holder for his death/burial info before I create a Memorial for Ardelia Jane "Della" Manning Holder.
You have a terrific handle on the resources in that area. Way to go.
|Sally Randol-Hardy||"Alco Cemetery" Brewton, AL|
Do you know if Union Cemetery might have been called "Alco Cem" in 1944?
An Escambia Co., AL woman suggested that "Alco Cemetery" might be the same as Union Cemetery or Pilgrims' Rest Cemetery which are both in the Alco Community.
I have the 1944 Alabama Death Certificate for a woman named Ardelia Jane "Della" Manning Holder [=Mrs. John W. Holder] who was buried in "Alco Cem., Brewton" She d 18 April 1944 at 104 Hickory St., Brewton, Escambia, AL where she had lived for 31 years (per the DC). Many of her immediate family members either left the area or are buried in unmarked graves elsewhere except for a brother (Mathew Manning 1858-1943 buried in Pollard Cemetery).
Della's husband survived her, but I have not yet found death or burial information for him.
I want to create a Memorial for Della to link her to her parents and siblings for whom I have further information. I am fairly certain she had no children. The only m I have found was to John William Holder in 1919 when she was 51 years old.
All to say: I'd like to know where ALCO CEMETERY was so I can identify her burial location there.
