Elizabeth M. Mallock, 93, of South Whitley, died at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Parkview Huntington Hospital. She had been a resident at Norwood Nursing Center since November 2009.

She was born May 31, 1921 in Laketon, Indiana a daughter of James Esta and Golda (Rutledge) Price. Her formative years were spent in Laketon. She completed her education at Laketon High School.

On May 27, 1949 she was united in marriage to Rodney N. Mallock. With the exception of five years in Leesburg, Florida from 1985 until 1990, they made their home in South Whitley. Mr. Mallock died February 12, 2004.

She owned and operated the Beauty Nook for 26 years and retired from D & C Construction in 1985 with 16 years of service.

Surviving relatives include three children, Dean (Carol) Abbott of North Manchester, Carl (Rachel) Abbott of South Whitley and Glenda (Richard) Armstrong of Fort Wayne; a step daughter, Jane Mason of Elkhart; eight grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 12 step great grandchildren; and three brothers, Edward R. Price of Wabash, Rex E. Price of Wabash and Lon G. Price of Hobart.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James E. Price and Lester L. Price; and four sisters, Mabel Schenkel, Ruby M. Montel, Eleanor Eubank and Kathryn Curtis.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. The burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery. The visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to Parkview Hospice.

Chris, I see that you have requested a photo of grave of Isabel Powell Hidy at Gregg Cemetery, Clarke county, IA. We did photograph all graves in that cemetery and she does not have one. Also not listed in previous surveys. So for my records I have just listed her as possibly being buried there. Not my family but we live nearby so have tried to share records from local sources. Always disappointing to not find gravestones. Sorry.

Hi Chris, Its BEE guhn. It doesn't appear in the US until about the 1850's from Mecklenburg,Germany. There seem to have been this form of the name there back to @ least 1700's. I thought maybe Baguhn may have been a change or misspelling or left the Mecklenburg or Prussia area much earlier. Thanks for the reply. Suzy B
