Smith Cemetery, Monroe Co, MS
I would be interested to know why this is referred to as the Smith Cemetery. In Monroe County, this has always been known as the Lackey Cemetery. It is recorded as that in the 1938 Monroe Co. Cemetery Book done by Dr. W. A. Evans, Jr.(1865-1948). It is called Lackey after the Land owner, James S. Lackey (b1785NC), who obtained the property in 1841. The Lackey Family were in Monroe County in time for the 1820 Census.
I am always interested in learning something new about my county.

Mount Hope Cemetery
I wonder if I may have your permission to use your cemetery photo on my family website. Check it out at This is how I'd be using the photos and obituaries I find on Find A Grave, with 'used with permission' in the caption.

Thank you.

Black family
OK I understand the rules. I'm not a person to make a big deal out of who does what first. I just know you had some of the Black family in the wrong cemetery and this other perosn found the correct grave sites which is all that really matters in locating people not really who does what first.

So I guess now we will have duplicates of several memorials over this ? What a shame.

I did however let you know what happened and where these people are buried.

Locating these gaves can be a task sometimes. I for one am happy to see them found.

This matter is quite rediculous in my opinion. I see you did move some of the memorials to the other Lann Cemetery to put them in their proper places after 13 years.

Genealogy is my aim here. I'm very happy this other person has found the Black family as well as many others.

I for one have thanked him. Maybe, you would like to also. Just let him know it took 13 years for their burials to be properly located.

I was expecting a something different in your quest here.

request to allow me to manage site of Elizabeth M Alberson Jones
Hello Ms Murray
My name is Jim Martin. I notice that you presently manage the site for Elizabeth M Alberson Jones. She is my great great great great grandmother. I would like to ask you to let me manage her site. My research indicates her sister married my 5th great grandfather, Charles Shepherd Vinson Jones. My descent from Charles Shepherd Vinson Jones takes this form:
1st generation Jim Frank Martin Jr
2d generation - my mother Bina Elizabeth Barnes Martin
3d generation - Recer Lee Barnes
4th generation - Mary Ellafare Jones Barnes
5th generation - John Calvin Jones
6th generation - Ransom Jones
7th generation - Rev Charles Shepherd vinson Jones
8th generation - Edmund Jones born Colleton County South Carolina 1729 d. 1790 Colleton County South Carolina
9th generation - his father born Glamorgan, Wales
I would like to manage all of my Jones ancestors and kinfolks buried at Jones cemetery located at Chancellor/Bellwood Alabama on Alabama Hwy 85 south of Bellwood and north of Geneva on the Chancellor rural mail route. I was born on my father's farm almost directly across the Choctawhatchee river from that burial ground. I disocvered that burial ground in the early 1970s when it set abandoned and overgrown with sassafrass bushes and weeds, and photographed its tombstones. Please contact me and let me know if you are willing to transfer management to these sites of my ancestors and kinfolks.
