I started researching my family history after my mother died from a hereditary disease but got hooked and have been climbing the family tree for over 30 years. I hope I have contributed to the family history for generations to come.|
I am a volunteer with the Portage Community Historical Society and they have allowed me to have a genealogy and historical research area in the Goin Museum. If you have an early Portage Township family, consider donating a copy of your family history to our museum.
My Favorite Poem
A Daisy Beside the Rose
by Diana Sue Lindley Horton
Among the many flowers, God,
Within Your garden fair,
May I, a simple daisy be
So proudly standing there.
I need not be the most admired,
Great beauty to disclose;
It's certain in Your garden,God,
Not all can be a rose.
'Twould be to me an honor,
If where Your garden grows,
I could but be a daisy -
That stands beside the rose.

|Debi Burrow||John Houston Delmage # 95292081|
The note on John Delmage's memorial states that you submitted his obituary and parental links. So I'm wondering if you're related to him in some way or know his family. The memorial states "He served during World War II, from 1942 to 1945, as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army." My dad (Harvey K Burrow) was also a paratrooper and I believe that this John Delmage may have been the soldier who fought beside my dad and was mentioned in Stars and Stripes concerning an incident of them fighting the Germans in the Alps. I recently obtained copies of a couple of Stars and Stripes articles concerning this incident and would like to share them with his family if they are interested. I got the articles from the Library of Congress. They are in pdf form. Are you related to John or do you happen to have contact with his family? I would be glad to email them to you (or them).

Good Morning Kathy -
Would you release my mom and dad's memorials to me? I want to add their family histories and connect them to all our family.
Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day.

Thanks for asking.
|Richard Edinger||Question about Adam Edinger|
I am doing the family ancestry on the Edinger's. I believe your listing of the children for Adam Edinger is not complete. Why did you leave off, Guy, Lester and Otto.
I am also trying to find the reason that the Hildreth family moved from Virginia to Indiana. Gabriel Hildreth, Catherine (Kittie) Hildreth's father was born in Kentucky.
Another question, why didn't you put the parents in the Family Links of the "Find a Grave"? I would have thought this information would have been available to you with the connection you had with the Historical Society in Indiana.
Looking forward to a reply.

Is George Paulsen buried at McCool cemetery? His granddaughter Sarah Paulsen (8 year old murder victim) was buried at McCool.

I do not have any pictures of Elizabeth. I only met her once when we visited them. I was only six at the time, my mother wanted to see her brother Arthur one last time. He was in the hospital dying at the time. I just have a couple of Arthur, the one in his WWII uniform that I posted and a picture of him with his mother and his little sister (my mom) taken at their home in Indianapolis. They have a very interesting family story that I am still trying to piece together. My mother died in 1982 at age 50. She was on her own by age 14 because there was no one to care for her. Her older brothers were married and I guess no one wanted her. Very sad story. I think Arthur is linked to his mother. Nellie Viola Kent Shotts. I have not found his father's final resting place. His name was John Huffman. I do not know much about Elizabeth's family. I do remember her mother lived with them when we visited. She also raised canarys and tropical fish. Being a little girl that was very interesting for me. I wonder if any of Arthurs documents were among those donated. Do you know how I could find out? Thank you so much for the information. I wish I had contacted her before she passed away, she might have known some of the family secrets. Karen

Thank you very much for your kindness and the transfers. I will take care of them.

He would have been my uncle. My mother's half brother. They had the same mother. No children with Elizabeth, but he had a son from a previous marriage. Are you related to him? Karen
