I am a native of Cabell County, WV, born and raised, and a 1998 graduate of Marshall University with a BSN in nursing. I have been blessed with 3 children and 8 beautiful grandchildren.|
Of all the things I take pleasure with, genealogy is my passion. It has been my hobby for over 25 years. In 1997, I volunteered to coordinate the Cabell County, WVGenWeb at Rootsweb.com. I can't post the cemeteries I've read fast enough on FindAGrave.
Most of my entries on FAG were done before they added the update to link parents and spouse. I work on adding this information every day. Please DO NOT take the photos I've posted and add them to your family tree on Ancestry.com. These are my photos and taking them without my permission is stealing and against the law. Please do no post death certificate taken from WV Culture web site to my entries on FAG.

|GJ-N||The 2X Margaret Higgins Mystery|
I'm trying to figure out the mystery of the two Margaret Higgins in Lawrence County, born circa 1835 - 1840.
The first Margaret Higgins shows up in the 1850 census as the daughter of John and Sarah Higgins, age 15. The census records in succeeding years are inconsistent about her age, but a Find-A-Grave record (http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=126510196&ref=acom) gives a birth date of 1835, a death date of 1899 and married to David Franklin. No parent is shown on Find A Grave for this Margaret Higgins.
The second Margaret Higgins shows up in the 1850 census as the daughter of Thomas Higgins at age 13. (Not sure why Thomas' wife Hannah Corn isn't listed in this census as Hanna is listed in all the later ones.) This Margaret Higgins' age is consistent in the following census years with being born around 1837-1838, and she is the one married to Charles Peyton.
The Find-A-Grave entry for Margaret Higgins Peyton (listed incorrectly on Find a grave as 1831 but shown on tombstone as 1837 as birthdate) (http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=18961747&ref=acom) shows Sarah Payne as her mother.
My father, John Jones, descends from Thomas & Hanna Corn Higgins. He remembers her as great aunt Margaret Higgins Peyton and his cousin was Margaret Higgins Franklin.
So my question is: How does Find-A-Grave work to identify relationships? Do you have access to a death certificate to identify Sarah Higgins as the mother of Margaret Higgins Peyton? Or is the proximity of this Margaret Higgins Peyton in this particular cemetery the way the parentage was determined? or ???
Thomas Higgins & John Higgins, as you probably already know, were brothers, and their parents were John Higgins & Margaret Dennison Higgins. To make things more confusing, both the brothers John & Thomas Higgins have sons named Reuben and William.
It's VERY confusing!! Thanks in advance for digging through this email.

Find A Grave Memorial# 18961747
Margaret Higgins Peyton sorry I was born in Widen Clay County, way before you and Thanks for putting all these names on Find a grave God Bless Frank
Can you please process the edits that I sent you for this memorial?
The parents you have listed for this memorial are incorrect.
The parents you have linked here are my 2nd great-grand-parents and they never had a daughter named Chloe.
Appreciate you removing these linkage to the parents you have noted here for her.
Thank you so very much.

I sent an edit for Charles (107481455) and Virginia (107481460) Frazier who are buried in White Chapel. He is my uncle and am hoping you will transfer them to me. My Find A Grave #127344572.
|Dan Ewing||Thomas Cemetery|
Thank you for sending all the additional information for some of the Memorials I created at the Thomas Cemetery. I have made all of the appropriate updates.
Is Culloden near Huntington? I'm impressed with your background and geneological knowledge. What would be a reliable, inexpensive website to use for geneological research?
YOu have several of my family members listed in both White Chapel and Woodmere. I would like to speak with you about transferring them over to me as I have bios and pics
|Deborah Russell||RE: Emma Spears Anderson|
First, thank you for all the work you did to try and find answers. Its been 2 years of searching and so frustrating when I keep hitting brick walls. I have searched wvculture so many times only to come up empty. Now one thing I did find was Georgia's birth record and it list her parents as Tho Craig and Emma Spears and that she was born in Lawrence ? So no idea if she was born in Ohio or WV. And I have Emma's father as Robert Spears but no idea if this is indeed correct. I will plug all the info into my tree and see if anything pops. At one time I found Emma in the home of her grandparents, last name Pully. Why couldn't our ancestor's have made it easier for us???
|Deborah Russell||Emma Spears Anderson|
Emma was my great grandmother. Her daughter was Georgia Mae Craig. I have been researching her lines and am at a brick wall with Emma's mother Jane. Some have her maiden name as Pully, Meadows and Nealley. Would you have any documentation as to what her maiden name was and who her parents were? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
