Robidoux
Hello,
My 4th great grandparents, Jean Baptiste Robidoux and Wabichechikwe lived on Madeleine Island. They had a daughter, Louise, born about 1824.
In 1836 Jean B. Robidoux married Marguerite Wechkin. I don't know if Marguerite Wechkin and Wabichechikwe are the same person.

ST. JOSEPH MISSION AND HOLY FAMILY CATHOLIC CHURCH MARIAGE RECORDS, 1835-1880. BY FATHER IRANEUS FREDERIC BARAGA: JOAN B. ROBIDOUX, AGE 43, OF LA POINTE, MARRIED ON 28 AUGUST 1836, MARGARITHA WECHKIN, AGE 35, OF LA POINTE. WITNESSES: J. B. CORBIN AND CAR. BOISSEAU. PRIEST: FREDERIC BARAGA.

In 1839 Francois Xavier Robidoux was born to Jean Baptiste Robidoux and Marguerite Wechkin.

A LIST OF THE MIXED BLOOD CHIPPEWA OF LAKE SUPERIOR, 1839

The 1839 Lake Superior half-breed census lists Jean Baptiste Robideaux for Xavier Robideaux, 1/2, 7 days, Lap., Lap., Adm.

Jean Baptiste Robidoux died in 1840 and was buried on 10 August 1840.

Per St. Joseph Mission Burial Records: Joan (Jean) Bapt. Robidoux, age 54 years; Parents: Blank; Priest: Frederic Baraga.

Some people believe that Jean B. Robidoux is the brother to Ignace Robidoux, but Jean B. Robidoux, the brother to Ignace, died in 1871 in Canada.

Also, there is a Louise Rabideaux living at Bad River from about 1875 to 1903. She is not related to Ignace.

Was wondering if you knew of this family or if you know anyone who will do research at Red Cliff or Bad River?

Thank you for any info you may have on my family, Clair

RE: Antonette Sobota
Thank you. I think the person whose memorial page it is will be looking into it. There is an Antoinette Sobota with the same years buried in Holyrood Catholic Cemetery in Shoreline, Washington, who we think is the same person. If she is buried in Washington, that would explain why there is no year of death inscribed on the marker in the photo you posted. We're just not sure at this point why she would not be buried with her husband.

Antonette Sobota
Hi Gregory,
You have added grave photos for Antonette Sobota, who is buried in Holyrood Catholic Cemetery in Shoreline, Washington, but your grave photos are from a different cemetery. Can you please tell me the name and location of the cemetery where your photos were taken. Thanks so much! :)

Billie Garr
Hi Gregory,
I came across the info on little Billie when I was researching someone else. I am not related to the Garrs, and don't need any additional info. I was touched by the tragedy surrounding Billie's death, and wanted to add to his memorial if I could.

Best Regards,
Brenda
