I was born on November 1, 1929, right after the Stock Market Crash. When as a child I would hear that said, I thought I must have caused the crash. My parents James Robert Nuttle (1905-1972) and Frances McCoin (1906-1997) met at Kansas State Agricultural College, Manhattan, Kansas. James graduated from El Dorado (KS) High School in 1924. Frances graduated from Wichita (KS) High School in 1923 having been in summer school and accelerated classes; her class was the last class in the Wichita High School before the opening of Wichita East.
James and Frances were married on January 16, 1927, and used a trip for Jim's sinus problems as a honeymoon trip. They traveled by train to Phoenix, AZ. Jim found jobs and bought a car either in Phoenix or El Paso TX. They went to Los Angeles to visit Jim's Aunt Letha Teter Coleman and Aunt Mary Alice "Allie" Nuttle Peterson before they returned to Kansas. Allie's mother was Martha Teter Nuttle so she was both an aunt and a first cousin once removed to Jim.
My sister Janice Elizabeth Nuttle McNee was born on November 30, 1927, in Wichita where mother stayed at her parents before going to Wesley Hospital, just as she did when I was born in 1929 and our brother James Robert Nuttle, Jr., born January 12, 1932. On October 25, 1943, my younger sister Eda Jean Nuttle Woolf was born at Susan B. Allen Hospital in ElDorado KS.
