I am from Charleston WV & graduated from Stonewall Jackson High 1968. I am one of two daughters of Mary Christine Painter and Ronald Gifford Bailey. They both died in 1994, 4 months apart and are buried in Ormond Beach, FL. Before my grandmother (Macel May Dawson Bailey) died in 1979 she gave me a handwritten paper with her family information. After my parents died, I ran across that paper, which led to the exploration of my ancestral roots. A couple of years ago I did some research at the Cultural Arts Center at the Capitol in Charleston and at Dunbar City Library along with visiting a few of the cemeteries in order to collect information for my project. It's been a very exciting adventure and my endeavors have been very rewarding thus far. Find A Grave has been a great collaborative tool for my research.
