Bio

Genealogy and the collection of vintage family photos have been official hobbies of mine since I was thirteen.

I'm a native of Woodland, California, but have lived in Coalfield, Tennessee, since 1978 where my parents were born. Coalfield is also the nucleus of my family history on both sides.

Any pictures I have uploaded are definitely for the purpose of sharing, but please give credit to Find A Grave as the source (my name does not have to be listed). I especially want to thank those who have transferred memorials to me. My virtual flowers are emblems of those whom I personally knew or at least remember (with the exception of six that include notes).

Surnames in my direct ancestry through my great-great-grandparents (besides Wilson) include Adkisson, Bogart, Bunch, Butler, Cross, Davis, Estes, Goddard, Hall, Jackson (paternal/maternal), Justice (paternal/maternal), Langley (paternal/maternal), and Low (Lowe).

"To forget one's ancestors is to be a brook without a source, a tree without root." ~ Chinese Proverb.

"Why waste your money looking up your family tree? Just go into politics and your opponents will do it for you." ~ Mark Twain.

"Snobs talk as if they had begotten their ancestors" (Wings of Silver, p. 78).

UNCONSCIOUS CEREBRATION

Say not that the past is dead.
Though the Autumn leaves are shed,
Though the day's last flush has flown,
Though the lute has lost its tone--
Still within, unfelt, unseen.
Lives the life that once has been;
With a silent power still
Guiding heart or brain or will.
Lending bias, force and hue
To the things we think and do.
Strange! how aimless looks or words
Sometimes wake forgotten chords,
Bidding dreams and memories leap
From a long unbroken sleep. ~ William Edward Hartpole Lecky.

TIME

The days of the years of our pilgrimage are threescore years and ten. The generations crowd each other off the stage of time in swift succession. The sand runs out in the hour glass. Time is only the tick of the second hand in the clock of the ages. Some morning the senses will fail to resume business. Every door will be locked, every shutter drawn. Eye, ear, and hand will fail to respond. There will no longer be any medium by which to enter the temporal. An invisible hand has written "finis" across another human career, and people say "the man is dead." He has not ceased to be; he had merely finished with time. ~ Anonymous (Leaves of Gold, p. 21).
