Bio and Links
Bio Photo I'm working a lot on my family tree, so this site has been a natural growth from there. I've also been adding entries from transcriptions of cemeteries that have been done by others over the years. Many of them I've found on the internet and others are in book form. I love old and historical things, so this is a neat way for me to give back to the genealogical community.

St. John's Cemetery - Crawford County, KS
Hello -

I'm writing about some questions in the listing of memorials at Saint Johns Catholic Cemetery, Franklin, Crawford County, Kansas -
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=2144023
It appears you have entered all 50 memorials in this cemetery, but I can find no record of a St. John's ever being in Crawford County. I think that this cemetery should be listed in Douglas County.

Of those 50 memorials, I have found six of them also listed in Mount Calvary in Lawrence:
- James Bennett (2 duplicates)
- Mary Bennett
- James Birmingham
- Mary Holland
- Thomas Lavelle (2 duplicates)
- Catherine Spauling

two more in Oak Hill in Lawrence:
- Baby Girl Albach
- J George Albach

and one in Franklin Cemetery near Lawrence (more on this one below):
- William Grauel

Many of the duplicates in these other cemeteries were also created by you, and some have tombstone photos attached - sometimes the same photo appears on memorials at both locations. How confusing!!

I think that the Franklin Cemetery ( http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=2143893 ) and St. John's Catholic Cemetery are one and the same. There was a cemetery located near the now-extinct town of Franklin, east of Lawrence. I have read that some graves were relocated from this cemetery due to road construction, but that not all families gave permission and so some graves remained in the original location. I'm surmising that you've created these various memorials based on old inventories, which would explain the possible duplicates. Perhaps the misplacement of St. John's in Crawford County is because there is an active community called Franklin there.

If you've been able to make sense of this, let me know what you think. If we are in agreement with my conclusions, I'll be happy to make the necessary moves/merges and then we can decide which duplicated memorials need to be deleted.

Thanks very much for your help!

~ Chris

Catherine Spaulding history
I saw you added the following to Catherine Spaulding, could you help me out with the source?

"Born in Tullamore, Ireland. She came to America because of the Irish Potato Famine when she was 14 years old. Her husband, Luke Spaulding, is buried in southern Kansas."

Ira E. Moon
Jennifer, I am a granddaughter of Ira.
I was curious to know how you gathered all the family information? I am just now trying to research The Moon's and I have nothing before Ira.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

RE: Martha Mary Curnutt
Thanks for the reply. So when she created hers in 2012, it automatically deleted the one you made in 2005. That doesn't seem right.

Dolores Della Penna's father
Hi Jennifer...I did a little digging and found Dolores's father and where he's buried. Dolores is there too. Can you link the dad with Dolores. And the cemetery she's buried. Dolores' mom Helen is still alive and moved out of Tacony and lives 2 blocks from me. Small world. I will send you the link to her father's memorial.

Thank you in advance!

RE: Thank you
You're welcome. She came from the same neighborhood where I lived & even though I didn't know her personally, her murder was a top story here for decades. She went to school right down the street from us. I remember that night as if it was yesterday & the terror all us girls felt. Until I got older & read her case did it occur to me that she went through a lot more than I can imagine. I was around her age when it happened so what 16 yr old takes anything so seriously. You can Google her name & read the details of what she went through. I can't put it on this site because it's too much for some to swallow.

Have a great night!
