Find a Grave ID

Bio

I was born in Jersey City, NJ and lived there for the first seventeen years of my life. The only grave I ever visited was my grandfather; he died in 1960. I didn't know that, within view of his grave, just accross the street, was the unmarked grave of my older brother. The Viet Nam War, and my part as a medic from age 17, put me in contact with many more graves and the people who would visit them.
I am now a retired Police Officer living in Fairborn, Ohio. I have been an Evidence Tech (now called CSI), Forensic Photographer and Death Investigator during my career and I suppose I'm still doing those things now - as a hobby.
My wife Darlene and I have been working together to not only record our own families but to record local cemeteries near our home for those who do not live here. Many who are resting here are from pioneer families who lost family and friends on their way west. There are military families who passed through or settled here and occupy graves far from their homes around the world, so we access local archives to find them and with 'boots on the ground' confirm their gravesites for others to find.

Any 'grave photographs' I have taken are public domain; copy them and use them as you please.
*TRANSFERS: Most of the memorials that I have posted are not related to me, they are projects that I have taken-on. I believe that ANY relative should be able to take over management of these graves. Just ask me. ***Go to the 'edit' tab on the memorial; select 'Suggest any other correction or addition' and type Transfer. I will be sent the link with your member ID.
I have surveyed, photographed, researched and created memorials for all known Civil War soldiers buried in Greene Co., OH who served in the US Colored Troops. I have transferred all of them to a USCT organization. There were a few who served in the USCG Lighthouse Service that have also been passed on to others. If you represent a specialty group and find memorials that I manage please contact me by email to discuss transfers or additions.
In some cases (with the sexton's help) I have found the physical remains in a cemetery with memorials mistakenly created elsewhere. Most commonly the current City of Fairfield, OH (Butler Co.) is assumed when prior to 1950 there was a Village of Fairfield (Greene Co.) which merged into the City of Fairborn. If you think this may be the case you can email me and I'll check the burial records in any of Fairborn's cemeteries (Including Byron which is in Bath Township with a Fairborn address).
