Hello, and welcome to my profile page. I'm a retired USN aviator, a native of Los Angeles and a survivor of the September 11, 2001 attack on the Pentagon. I am very blessed to be living in Rancho Santa Fe, California, with my lovely lady and our beloved canine and equine children.
After more than a dozen years as a member here, I've seen my share of silly and even childish exchanges over things that have nothing to do with the purpose of this very special place. It's sad but true that I rarely come here anymore because of these issues, and I sincerely hope that this doesn't happen to anyone else. Please remember that this is a cemetery and it should be treated as such, with dignity and care.
"Don't be so anxious to assert the superiority of your ethics and mores over mine if you've never been in the position of having them tested under the conditions of actual combat. Only then could you ever hope to judge me." - CDR D. E. "Sammy" Davis, Jr., USN(Ret)
"If there are no dogs in heaven, then when I die, I want to go where they all went." - Will Rogers
Samuel T. Elrod I gather, from your messages, that you're related to Sam Elrod, TM1, USNR. I'm related to him as well. He was the youngest child in the family, my grandmother, Mary Ellen Elrod, was the next youngest to him. It would be interesting to compare notes someday on our family history. I'm on Facebook as Richard Cunningham, and also have been working on a family tree on Ancestry.com. My email address is email@example.com so drop me a note sometime.
LT Dolly vinsant I had just read your last contribution to the LT Dolly Vinsant memorial page here on this sight, before reading your profile I had thought that you might of been a world war 2 veteran possibly someone whom had known her during her years of service. I was just thinking to myself that it would of been interesting to see contributions posted here by some world war 2 vets that had remembered being cared for by her on one of her many courageous mission flights during the war. A very brave woman and an example for young people to follow today.
Permission to use photo I am a news reporter in the Rio Grande Valley and am trying to do a story about Dolly Vinsant. A local foundation is asking a reward for the return of the portrait of her you posted on this site. They could not provide a picture of the portrait, but we found it on this si Where did you find the picture and can you give us permission to use it on TV?
Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you can. Thank you so much.
