TO POTENTIAL CONTRIBUTORS OF "ADDITIONAL INFO":|
I appreciate additional info to memorials which I've created/maintain, but PLEASE LIMIT your info. This site is called FIND-A-GRAVE, not "Find The Genealogy History Of...".
I do not feel it at all appropriate to turn a memorial into an entire "genealogy work". Certainly it will be ONE, OF MANY valuable resources for genealogist' in their research.
Some people fail to READ the rules of use for this, and other sites!!!
'Family Search' seems to be a favorite site for newbies to send info from, to memorial creators at FindAGrave.com. They usually do this by "cutting & pasting" records. I WILL NOT ADD THESE FORMATTED RECORDS TO MEMORIALS I'VE CREATED, UNLESS THE SENDER PROVIDES ME PROOF OF PERMISSION TO USE, FROM FAMILY SEARCH.
From the 'Family Search' site:
"Licenses and Restrictions
All material found on this site (including visuals, text, icons, displays, databases, media, and general information) is owned or licensed by us. You may view, download, and print material from this site only for your personal, noncommercial use unless otherwise indicated. In addition, material may be reproduced by media personnel for use in traditional public news forums unless otherwise indicated. You may not post material from this site on another website or on a computer network without our permission. You may not transmit or distribute material from this site to other sites."
I may add bits of relevant info from these records, if the sender is thoughtful enough to include the proper source which can be found at the bottom of each page titled, "Citing this Record".
Aside from the "rules of use" matter, often there are errors in Family Search's records, to which any seasoned genealogist can attest. Finally, and this is my pet peeve, MOST OF THE INFO IS REDUNDANT! If I've created a memorial for "Susan Ann White Smith"; with complete DOB & DOD; linked her to her parents and spouse; and listed her in XYZ Cemetery, why in the world would I add a "record" which names her as "Mrs. T.H. Smith"; born 1863, died 1940; and buried at blah-blah cemetery?! Also, the place of birth of a decedent's parents is irrelevant to his/her memorial, so please submit that tid-bit of info to THE PARENT'S memorials.
I will not list a person who does not have a DOD inscribed on their stone, unless I have verified their death. Many people have pre-ordered their cemetery markers for the "inevitable", thus their name and DOB being posted online BEFORE THEY DIE, is a violation to their privacy... and frankly, an EGREGIOUS act!
I endeavor to compare NAMES and DATES, so that I don't create an entry for someone previously listed by another variation of their name, so please let me know if I have duplicated a memorial.
NOTE: 99% of the headstone photos I've added are best viewed when "clicked-on".
Headstone photo's may be copied to other sites WITH the proper citation to FindAGrave.com.
And if you have a problem with the quality of my photos... PLEASE FEEL FREE TO USE YOUR TIME AND MONEY TO TRAVEL TO A CEMETERY TO PHOTOGRAPH THE MARKERS/STONES YOURSELF. I will not be offended in the least.

|Jerry Dakins||Jenkins Cemetery Lee County Alabama|
I had a photo request for two of the Jenkins buried there. Since it was a small cemetery, I photographed all of the markers, matched them up, based matching birth, death dates or names. There were a few differences in some of the information between the memorial and markers with some of the infants of Jenkins and Chadwicks. The marker for HC Chadwick is probably for Infant babe of J.L. & IL but I am not sure since there were no birth or death dates listed. All other infants in the list were accounted for tho. The markers had names for two of the children of Jenkins which were Aria and I believe the other one was Harvy. Birth and death dates matched.
I see you keep up with a lot of memorials so you must be very busy. If I have mis-matched anyone please let me know and I will remove the picture.
|Margie Daniels||Trusty family|
I am sorry for the other message. I looked at the wrong obit and then went looked over the entire family and made the changes. I went to my family record on the Trusty family and made additions and links to all of them.
Pine Valley is a very small community then and now. My Martin Parker was the minister to Tabernacle. My grandmother, great grandfather and great great grandfather lived there and were members of the church with all of the allied families in attendance. Tabernacle is a small well kept cemetery. I always enjoy going there.
|Margie Daniels||RE: Linked parents|
Before I change the name you requested will you send me the document supporting it. My info came from family members. Thanks, Margie
|Margie Daniels||Linked parents|
I linked the parents
FATHER: John Leland Trusty - #84474162
MOTHER: Minnie Trusty - #24623075
FYI: I have been transcribing cemeteries since 1976 and I do add memorials. I WILL TRANSFER ANY MEMORIAL I HAVE THAT IS NOT MY FAMILY AND YOU ARE RELATED EVEN IF YOU ARE A COUSIN.
I believe families are best suited to manage their family. Many, many times only 1 cousin in a whole family is interested. I just find it better suited for the family so they can add links and make corrections when errors are found. I do not care how many memorials I manage I am not in the numbers game I am in the helping people with their research game that is what Find A Grave is all about other wise it is just a grave like any other grave. Families managing their loved ones brings researchers together.
It's actually "Gus the second" next to my office...Grandson, not son! ;o) So he may not know the exact middle name, but I will ask.
|Scott Black||Robert Fennell SAC|
Good evening, Liz
I will try to find out on the middle name. His son, Gus, lives next door to the back of my office and he and I often talk, so I will try to remember to ask him. Hope this information helped. Take care and we'll talk more. :o)

Thank you for the photo of the grave of Needham Alford that you posted. Best wishes, Martha McK
|David Phares||RE: William Clayton Yontz memorial|
I would like to maintain both. The younger William is a grandson of either William or one of his brothers, Clayton or Dean.
Liz, thank you so much for the transferring of my relatives' memorials to me, and for the grave photos! Much appreciated. Hope you're well!
