I hope to add many of my ancestors' graves to this site. Most from the state of South Carolina. If you have bio info on any of the photos I have posted, I will be glad to add it or transfer if you like. |
Sorry, I don't do chalk or shaving cream on markers. I try my best to get pretty good photographs with help of a mirror or manipulating photo after I take it. I sometimes use the water in spray bottle method. I figure there isn't usually enough water in a cemetery to clean off the stone if you do put something on it and you can't depend on Mother Nature to do it for you.
I try to do as many volunteer photos as I can in my area when requested. If the photo I take is not sufficient (you want chalk ...) please feel free to request again for someone else to take it. I really don't mind.
I also do not enter information directly from my collection of cemetery books (most are copyrighted). Too many mistakes in the books. If I actually see the grave I am less likely to put the information in the wrong cemetery and also have a picture of the grave to confirm information. If you do, please consider sending a donation to the group that provided the information. At lot of hard work goes into documenting the cemeteries.
Please send all corrections and additions thru EDIT from the Memorial page.
I also help with the Aiken Barnwell Genealogical Society. Find us on FACEBOOK.

Thank you for the photos!

Thank you. I think I have finally figured out the location - I didn't realize there was a map included on the cemetery page.

Can you tell me the location of the Peeples Cemetery? In your biography of Rev. Darling Peeples, you state he dies on the Peeples Planation. I can locate where his place was on the 1825 Mills Atlas of Barnwell District. I am interested because family history that has been passed down is that Rev. Peeples bought the home of Cornelius Tobin, "Fairmount" - I am a direct descendant of Cornelius Tobin. Information that I have is that the Peeples later sold it to the Reynolds family and was called the Old Reynolds Place. The home was demolished in the 1920's. I live in Columbia, SC and would be interested in finding its original location. Cornelia Ann Tobin Peeples, grandaughter of Cornelius Tobin is also buried in the Peeples cemetery. Could this cemetery be located near the prpperty they owned?

Hi...would you happen to be related to John Thomas Holly #45550308? I noticed you added a photo to his memorial. Looking for information on this family. Thanks.

Back in June of 2013, you left me this message under my previous account:
Lauren, I see you have taken several pics of the cemetery. Do you know if anyone has ever done a cemetery survey of the site? I help local gen. society and may try to do it this summer.

Sorry I didn't get back with you. I haven't logged in for over a year now. To answer your question, I haven't a clue if anyone has surveyed this cemetery. The photos were actually taken by my father several years ago.
