Bio Photo PLEASE REQUEST TRANSFERS.... If you are related and can enhance the memorial by adding additional information, please request transfer, giving me your relationship. No transfers just for collection of a particular family name.

If you request a transfer, be sure you are committed to a lifetime of maintaining the memorial. Unfortunately a few of my older transfers are maintained by contributors who no longer respond.

IMPORTANT: When sending information to add, give source of information. Without sources, sorry, but changes will not be made. With new quick edits, this is still important. Unless evident on memorial, please use the other suggestion and include source. Please note that online trees, such as ancestry's, are not valid sources unless documentation is attached to the tree.

We've searched many graveyards, seen stones that were in such disrepair, and wondered what would happen to them as time marched on. This site is a wonderful way to preserve, if not the actual stone, at least a replica by photograph for future genealogists. Our eldest son has also gained in interest in photographing the stones and we have enjoyed working these cemeteries together and searching out requests.

If you have taken better gravestone photos that what we have posted, please post yours and send a message - we will review and delete ours if appropriate.

I may try to contact contributors if I question an edit. For those who hide themselves completely by not showing email or allowing comments, my only choice is to decline and hope they resubmit with additional information.

Happy graving to all!

---Linda & family

RE: Sarah Herman 35745661
Thank you for the edits, I have a copy of that marriage certificate for Edward, my 2 greats grandfather. I checked my sources and have no idea where that date came from. If she died in 1899 and was 69, her birth date should be around 1830. I changed that on my tree too. Thanks for the double check. BTW do you save the copy of the death certificates to put them on Find A Grave? When I try to save it off of Ancestry, there is just a blank or black copy. I can print it, but not save it. Jessica

RE: Rachel Shearer & Leah Humes
For Rachel and Leah there would be no direct source, only family information. Multiple trees can be found on Ancestry and Family Search, showing Leah and Rachel as daughters of Dewalt.

Hope this is enough.

Notes I have on Rachel:
Rachel and John Shearer lived most of their lives in Loysville, PA. At one time Rachel lived with her sister Mary (Wertz) Shively and her husband Solomon. Rachel was a very dainty, particular in all things, and of sweet disposition, and habitually smoked a clay pipe.

1860 US Census, Carlisle West Ward, Cumberland Co., PA., William J. Shearer age 30, Lawyer, Mary A. wife age 30, Raymond E. son age 1, Rachael mother age 55.

1880 US Census, North Middleton Two., Cumberland Co., PA., William Shearer age 50, Lawyer, Mary A. wife age 45, Raymond son age 21, Minnie daughter age 19, Annie M. daughter age 17, William J. Jr., son age 14, Sarah E. daughter age 13, Jessie W. daughter age 11, Martha daughter age 9, Rachael mother age 74, Laura Wenrich Servant age 22.

Notes I have on Leah:
Lived in New Germantown and Carlisle PA.

1850 US Census, Bloomfield Boro, Perry Co., PA., Roll 805, Book 1,Page 427, Thomas Humes age 43, Shoemaker, Leah wife age 40, Harriet daughter age 19, Mary J. daughter age 17, Sarah A. daughter age 15, John L. son age 13, William A. son age 2, William Keller age 1, Henry Swegar age 37 pastor.

I was about to leave a message to thank you for our earlier interaction. I'm still researching the reason Bischel was given a different name and thinking this must be the maiden name of a different generation. Not much info is available.

When I came here I saw you had a virtual cemetery for Chilcote, which is a line I am researching for myself (great-grandmother is Kathryn Ann Chilcote, also of Huntingdon) and trying to verify the family story of a Civil War great uncle who died as a POW days after peace declared.

Most of the work I am doing is simply to help others as collateral to general historical reseach on German immigrants to Pennsylvania. If I find something, I want to share the info from published sources and the National Archives.

All the best!

RE: Catharine Connelly edit
Unfortunately, ancestry will not pull it in without the date

RE: Catharine Connelly edit
It would be best to go ahead and put in the birth year. Even if it's a year off, pulls in this info for researchers who can match up with other info, such as death dates. As genealogists, we understand that can happen, but at least it will give us a lead for further research and links to other family members through FindAGrave. It just adds one more layer of research for us. Thanks

RE: Catharine Connelly edit
Hi, she is shown on the 1870 census in Pennsylvania, birth year 1820, and Otis is her son. I've been researching my Conley/Connelly line on and she popped up. Thanks for asking and confirming. I'm also trying to get the family members connected on FindAGrave.
