Bio and Links
Bio Photo Taphophilia (a passion and enjoyment of cemeteries) has been my main hobby since the late 1970's when I was a junior in high school. I discovered that cemeteries in and around Los Angeles were the best places to hide from truant officers. It was in these adopted sanctuaries that I began to appreciate my surroundings: the grounds, the headstones, the architecture, the artwork and most importantly, the residents.

In October of 2010, I founded The Traveling Taphophiles, a group that sets out once a month to visit cemeteries. Our travels have taken us as far as New Orleans. I'm fortunate to have met others that share my hobby and to have forged some great friendships along the way.

Once photos have been posted, feel free to use them as you wish - photo credit isn't necessary.

Happy Graving ~

Louis DuMort

I miss Chris with all my heart.

RE: Photos for the Roberts
You made some very interesting points about the grave placement and the lack of a marker. Now you have me, too, ...

> Just wonderin'

Sometimes I think that is the most captivating part of this - trying to work the puzzle without all the pieces.

Oddly enough, that thought had never occurred to me. Now that you mention it, I have to agree that it is one possibility and a likely one at that. I have always assumed that there was no one around who gave a hoot. And my own research would indicate that this is very likely in a great many cases. Still, I won't be so likely to jump to that conclusion in the future! Thank you for taking time to share the thought!

Thank you so much for posting her marker. She was my grandmother Ella (Sweetser) Smith's sister.

Photos for the Roberts
Thank you for the photos of the grave sites of James and Elsie Roberts. I really appreciate your getting the photos even though the graves are unmarked. While it is sad that neither has a marker it is even more sad that James has no marker. James was a veteran of World War I and is entitled to a free marker. Again, THANK YOU!!!

Thank you so much!
I'm grateful for the time you took to find my great grandfather and great grandmother's tombstones for me. I'm just starting my ancestry journey and am so impressed at the willingness of the community to help one another. I'm visiting my mom in a few weeks and she'll be thrilled to see these photos too. Thank you from both of us.
