I've been interested in genealogy for quite some time now. Thanks to the bountiful records my grandfather kept, hand written notes and stories from family as well as technology I've been able to put together a few pieces of the puzzle. Some of the pieces are listed on this site. It's a continuous cycle which will always be of interest to me.
I have a complete DNA profile on FTDNA.com. I've tested both Paternal and Maternal sides and have taken the test which breaks down my ethnic background. I was not surprised to find I still have relatives in Europe and throughout the U.S.A. I advise those who are interested in genealogy to take at least the family finder test. You don't have to take the complete test as I did, the family finder test is just as good for the beginner.
The known names I descend from on my Paternal Side are: Chojnacki, Krajenke, Slobodnik, and Sikora. I am still filling in the gaps.
One final note, do not suggest any changes or try to alter any of the bio's I have written. I will change them back. I cite my sources and give credit to those I get my sources from. Try reading a book before going on the web for information when it comes to the spelling of someones name. My effort is worth more than a one time Google search.
Cynthia Jo McDonald Michael, Thank you so much for that picture. I thought they would have to mark the site with something, but I never imagined a stone with the number. I was told by another volunteer that the site was not marked. I have a gravesite on order that should be delivered in the next month. Happy New Year to you. Kay Humes
Sweetest Heart cemetery help Hello, I am not related by any means, but see that you are having difficulty finding some relatives at Sweetest Heart of Mary Cemetery. Specifically your great grandma, Walentina, as you do not have a date of death.
You can contact the Archvices at the archdiocese of Detroit;I would assume the archives at the Archdiocese of Detroit would be able to help you with a death date for Walentina.
you can contact their archives office via email: Archives 12 State Street Detroit, MI 48226-1823 ph. 313-237-5846 email@example.com
They have helped me before that's why i suggest it.
Torrington Grave Michael, thanks for the credit, I appreciate it! Back in 2004 when I took this and other photos up in the Arctic, I shared them widely online, not realizing (as I would now) how they'd get used and re-used. I really appreciate your getting back to me and changing this!
John Torrington grave photo Hi, it looks as though you've used my photograph of the grave of John Torrington. That's fine with me, but I would like a credit -- "photo by Russell Potter, 2004" would be fine.
Seems that no matter how you look at it, we are related... Two Chojnacki brothers married into the Poliwodzinski (Poli) family and as you know my grandmother Helen was a Poli... Let me catch my breath after receiving such a great revelation about my family and meeting a new member that I did not know about.. I will look into all of this and see what I can come up with for you... Thank You for writing; Dennis
