To keep weeds out of the beautiful Find A Grave garden....

First, I don't link to Burial Unknown Site Memorials as BU shouldn't be on FAG according to the guidelines of the website. Do not request relationship edits to a BU as it will be refused. The first criteria for making a memorial on FAG is having the burial site, as this is a grave registration site. When you made a BU, you have a chance of losing the memorial to the member who "Find A Grave" in the cemetery.

Second, I may or may not transfer outside of the guidelines to an established member. It is my choice. Long-time hard working-members, who are busy in surveying cemeteries and taking grave photos impress me more than someone who is collecting others' memorials for their personal goal or waiting for someone to find the burial sites for their numerous memorials made with an "unknown burial site".

Lastly, there are no duplicated memorials on FAG. If I find a duplicated memorial while researching this site, there is 99% chance that it will be deleted or merged eventually.

You may disagree with the guidelines but remember the guy who started Find A Grave wrote them. He is the boss.

Many of the memorials transferred to me were done without my request for them. These memorials have found a home and will be nurtured.

Also, thank you for all the flowers and tokens left on my family's memorial. They are all sincerely appreciated by me and my family.

You are very welcomed. We are happy to be able to go to nearby cemeteries and take photo requests.

RE: Photos
Hate to bother you again. I have added 3 new sites. I am hoping to add about 50 more. I do have two questions. First how do I get the Grave site in the individual profiles in Ancestry? Secondly my pictures are all in TIFF format. So why do I not change them? Because I have downloaded two sites and they might as well have been written in Latin. I am barely computer literate. Having been raised when our phone was an 8 party line and typewriters were manual (if you had one). I have tried to contact Find a Grave to ask these questions. But alas my feeble attempts have failed. Hopefully they will see and read this missive and take mercy on us old folks. You are getting this because you are the only person that I have ever heard from at Find a Grave that was willing to help.

RE: Wolf's burials
Thank you for the information. I missed that when I entered the grave information. I thought that I had checked and could not find information for those burials. I sure I checked, but I guess I could be wrong. I had looked for some of those names as they pertain to my own tree.

I have to think about this, I don't want to be responsible for bad info on line. I may end up deleting the entries. However if folks do not use Find A Grave and pick up the information, as I did, out of library books they will still be wrong.

RE: Wolf's burials
I am wondering if perhaps the better solution is to leave the records but amend them to point out that those interred have been moved. The written record is still out there and someone (me) could make the
mistake as I did.

RE: Photos
Thank you so much. I have quite a few people that I want to provide with a memorial. I will take your advice and read the instructions closely. I have asked if they could include pictures from TIF which will make it easier for me to add. I live in Western, Montana if you ever need someone to check a site I will be happy to help even Northern Idaho.

Thanks again

Linda,

It appears that either the graves have been moved or the written record is wrong. I recorded in Find A Grave the burials of Hannah, Katherine, Mathias and Catherine Wolf. I do not know what the relationship is between the names. The information came from Volume II, Franklin County Ohio Cemeteries, Madison Township, compiled by the Franklin County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society, April 1981. That information the society recorded came from the History of Madison Township, Page 455.

I agree that the information is duplicated in both cemeteries for the names listed above. I do not know at this point how to reconcile the differences unless we can request someone to walk one or the other cemetery to see if there is headstones.

RE: Photos
Thank you for replying. A little knowledge is dangerous and I fit that category. I do not know how I got Robert instead of Alfred. I am Robert, Alfred was my Great Grandfather.
According to his death certificate his parents were Thomas Wolf and Catherine Savage of New Jersey. I have not been able, after lots of searching, to find any further info. I would not know how to correct my mistake. Any help will be appreciated or if you would make the correction I would appreciate it. I hate it when I make a mistake as it takes ten times longer to correct than to make. The 'Find A Grave" program has been extremely helpful in my genealogy efforts. I am trying to get as much done as possible so my children, grand children etc. will have a viable history of their ancestors.
Thank you again
