Bio and Links
Bio Photo I started researching my husband's family several years ago when we "inherited" all the photos, newspaper clippings, wedding invitations, etc. that his grandmother had kept. I didn't want to throw it all out because it was a lifetime of memories and keepsakes so I began to organize it on a genealogy database. Then I was "hooked"!

I accidently stumbled onto my cousin's posting on a message board while I was searching for information on MY family and this thing just took on a life of it's own.

I volunteered to take photos for Find-a-Grave after I requested and received some for my postings. It was so exciting to see the stones that I thought it would be nice to reciprocate. I also think I have a "sixth sense" or the deceased just "call to me" because since I started taking photos, I've been to cemeteries that I've never been to and I just seem to be able to walk right up to the grave! I've done it almost every time!

If I have posted something incorrectly or if I have posted something you feel is inappropriate, please email me or leave a message and I will correct it.

I am not related to any of the postings for Mifflin County, PA so I will gladly transfer memorials to a family member, no matter how distant. PLEASE USE THE EDIT TAB AT THE MEMORIAL TO MAKE THE TRANSFER REQUEST. It's much easier that way and all the necessary information is there.

Any photos I post here are free to be used by anyone. If you do not want me to use your photos, please do not claim my requests.

Yes it is a shame when they don't have a marker. I wish I had the money to put something suitable on a lot of graves.

I just use that picture to mark it when it is a known that there is no stone, and I try to add a note stating the fact. That way people aren't out searching the cemetery in vain.

Thanks for the heads up. I think the confusion is the two different spellings of that name in this area. I will delete mine.

Thanks for your response. Glad we can straighten this up for all the families and contributors involved. I may be able to get to Mt. Tabor and do the photo work myself, however, am not comiting to it now as we have snow on the ground and temperatures forecast to be only in the 20's next week. If I'm thinking of the right cemetery, it's all open on a hillside and will be quite cold and windy. Need a nice, sunny day to visit there.

Hi Mona I have added the information you sent me for the Beamers and also added a note to my memorials with the memorial# in Olive Cemetery. The stone in Brush Creek says the across the bottom that the family was buried at Beamer Church. Kathi

No it doesn't show much but it verifies that a marker was once there which is something as you say. The original inscription and location is given in the Tombstone Record of Taylor County, Iowa. The location is on a corner near a trackway used by cars. My theory is that over the years it was damaged by cars and/or mowers. Julia Johnson
