Air Force brat, music critic at the Shreveport Times 1977-1991, military reporter there 1992-2012, local desk editor 2012-13 and from August through the end of October 2015 editorial page editor, at which time retired from Gannett. Now public information officer for the Caddo Parish Coroner and the Caddo Parish District Attorney. Co-author of a history of Barksdale Air Force Base and a book on legendary locals of Shreveport. Interest in genealogy since 1990, willing to visit Northwest Louisiana cemeteries. Fascinated by the stories of those in them, cognizant that people only pass from memory if we let them.|
Unless there are historical or sentimental or research reasons disinclining me, I will transfer memorials upon request to children or grandchildren of those memorialized. More distant relationships will not guarantee transfer and are decided on a case-by-case basis. I post news stories and obits associated with the deaths with the permission of the publication unless the item is 75 years old or older and thus free from copyright. I am not responsible for the manner of death of a loved one -- suicide or murder for example -- or the public attention it may have garnered at the time. You cannot change history; it changes us.

|Mary Blunt||Tabithy Brown McFadden|
Let me know if you can correct this grave information. The person listed as sponsor no longer receives messages evidently.
The grave marker says: Tabithy Brown McFadden and gives the date July 2, 1881.
This person is Tabitha Emmaline Blunt the daughter of Lawrence C. Blunt of DeSoto Parish. She first married Ulmer Brown 1 Mar. 1900 in DeSoto Parish. Their son is Charlie Flavel Brown who I believe is buried in your Grand Cane Cemetery. Also, perhaps the husband, Ulmer Brown. Next Tabitha married J. Morris McFadden and was married to Morris McFadden in 1932 when she is listed in her mother, Cornelia Frances Cox Blunt's obituary. Frances (Fannie) Cox Blunt died 4 August 1932. The obituary along with her death cert was sent to me the other day from Louisiana Archives.
Basically, the stone in your cemetery is showing the birth date of Tabithy Brown McFadden. She died July 1975. I have not yet found a date but will let you know if I come up with the exact date. I have been looking for a long time to find her gravesite. Most of the Blunt family is buried at Friendship Cemetery where her father, mother, sisters, brothers, etc. are buried. Only when I discovered she was married to Morris McFadden did I have another name to search for. I believe John Morris McFadden and his former wife are buried at Friendship. I know that he is and found his grave marker.
Maybe, you can put a note on findagrave so that anyone else looking for Tabitha will have more information. Thanks if you can adjust anything.

Thanks for the obit. I have already taken all info, I think, that is allowed by findagrave and used in the bio but will check again.
Survivors are not to be listed.

Certainly Mr. Prime. It was a long search to find Maj. Crook's son. He lives in Shreveport yet. I researched Barksdale unit patches and air force ranks to determine it was Maj. Crook. Then I found an old obit that named his survivors. Located his son by happen chance on Facebook search. He confirmed to me his status by details only a family member would know. Like I say,, I've carried these items with me for 50 years...never lost track of them through the time and now I know why.
The crash site was maybe 20 miles from our deer hunting shack. Very loud rumble and boom Friday night +- 7pm. Never found out what it was until we got out of camp the following week.
Went to the site in April 1967. Something I will never forget the amount of energy that must have been released in seconds. you could see where she came in at the tree tops and then just shredded itself away in a V pattern the apex being just what was left of the fuselage. Anyway,
I have a picture of the memory box with the item I found and returned. I would be happy to send it to you. Regards.

B-52G-#58-0228 crashed in northern Wisconsin nearly 50 years ago November 1966. I was at the crash as a 13 year old in April the following year and found a unit patch and Major's rank gold oak leaf. I carried them with me for the last 50 years-never mis-placing them. I have now found his sole surviving son and returned them to him.
A burden is lifted.

You don't have to create a duplicate entry; I just submitted an edit of the section location to change it from 2X to 2Y. If the photo request remains linked to the location from the entry then it should straighten itself out once the edit is accepted.

John, Thanks for the obit. Turns out he was married to a great aunt of mine. Small world.

A high school friend attended the above named individual's memorial services and mentioned how really nice it was. My question, as I see you created an memorial on Find A Grave & linked him with his parents. I'm asking you instead of F.A.G.'s adm, because I looked at all the obits in my area, and seems like 4 out of 6 will be cremated...but the obits don't say that..."memorial services will be held at such & such place". Do we created a memorial for these folks? I was thinking, if we don't, the folks will be lost forever. Thanks for any guidance you suggest.

I had this happen to me also. I think if you bring it to their attention (or actually AJ), they will correct it. I Suppose I'm to blame, but he did deserve the 'famous' status.
Hooray, I got him into 'famous' status here!!! now if can only find someone to go get a photo of grave marker.

Please put this photo at the end of her photos.
Thanks John! I can not move them around. Alice #47815224
