Bio and Links
Bio Photo We are a retired Navy couple, so please let us know if there is a military headstone you need that is in our area, will make sure you get it...

We are working on getting the GPS locations and pictures of the Prince William County area cemeteries. if you need anything, just let us know.

NOTICE: If you want to use any of my photos that we have posted on Find A Grave, you are welcome to do so as long as it is for genealogical research and is neither immoral or illegal. We keep the original, higher resolution pictures for all pictures we take in our county and are very willing to share them upon request.

Transfer Requests... It seems many folks don't have any manners when it comes to requesting a transfer... The people who send rude/demanding correction requests also need to learn some manners if they want the changes made. Yes, mistakes/typos can happen. Acting like it is your right to be rude and demand changes about it is uncalled for.

Remember: Genealogy without documentation is mythology!

Photo of Tombstone of David Boyer
Hi! First of all, I love the quote you shared that "genealogy without documentation is mythology!"

Thanks for sharing up front that we are welcome to use photos of headstones that you have posted... for genealogical purposes. :) I am writing a blog post about David Boyer and appreciate being able to include this photo.

Thanks for the work you both do!!!

Lester C Abel
Hi Marie and Dale

I volunteer at the Virginia War Memorial in Richmond, VA. We are trying to obtain photos and brief bios of Virginian soldiers killed in WWII and Korea. The purpose of our project to is put in a database that can be viewed by visitors to the Memorial shrine wall. I did not know if you might know of a family member of Lester that would have a photo and some information about him.

Thanks for any leads you could provide.

Robert Francis Bacon
I was wondering if I could copy one of your image for my genealogy file. With your permission, I would also like to post it on my genealogy FB page: "John Harrison Sarah Lovell" with the notation: Source: Marie and Dale V. at The picture is the grave marker for Robert Francis Bacon (bottom picture). Robert is related to me through his great-grandmother Ann Hood Harrison (married Thomas H. Bacon). Ann Hood Harrison descended from John Harrison and Sarah Lovell who emigrated to Nova Scotia from Yorkshire, England in 1774. Thanks! Randy Harrison, Truro Nova Scotia, Canada

Thank You for sponsoring his memorial.
Are you related to him? His connection
to my family is through marriage of a
distant cousin. I will be glad to transfer
his memorial if you are related to him.

Joyce Young
Job/Jobe Ancestry
Hello Marie and Dale,

I noticed your post from 2008 which stated "I am down from Samuel Job's daughter, Mary who married into the Gordon line." If you are down from Mary Jane, then we are related.

Mary Jane Jobe Bradbury Doughty was my great grandmother. My family is trying to determine when the name was changed from Job, to Jobe. I (we) would love to hear from you and to learn how we are related to you. I know that Mary Jane had three brothers: Samuel Jefferson Jobe; John Hamilton Jobe; and James Morrison Jobe.

Any information that you would be willing to share would be appreciated.

Thank You, Joyce

Johannes & Rachel Van Etten
I've finally located the burial places for Johannes & Rachel Van Etten ... after having walked past them many times!

I'll be posting photos shortly including long shots of the entire plot in the event you are ever in the area and wish to visit.

It was a bit of a gray day, so I will be returning with a mirror & spray water bottle to try again for more definition in morning light. I used half a roll of tin foil pressed against the inscriptions to verify the names.

Both headstones have lovely weeping willow carvings above the script.

There is a new 3D technology, not yet released to the public, which may help with reading these nearly illegible tombstones in the future.
