I have researched my own genealogy for many years. Having done so much genealogy, I have been in many, many old cemeteries looking for ancestor's gravestones. This has helped me to see how very often our older cemeteries, especially in the rural settings, have become abandoned and neglected, and our ancestor's resting place is now unkempt and often the victim of time and the elements. I have spent the past several years learning the art of gravestone repair, maintenance, and cleaning.
I am currently the Historical Conservator of Gravestone Monuments for the Homestead Cemetery, in Munhall, Pennsylvania.
I am also a member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW), and am working on their Grave Registration Project.
