|Genealogy has been a big part of our lives for the last several years. We are as far back as we can go in our family without some very large break through, so we have decided to devote some time to finding the final resting place of as many of our ancestors as possible. |
Thanks to Findagrave we are making some progress. Now on our trips, we always check for photo requests in the area and are trying to give as many photos as we receive. We also try to take photos of as many old or unique headstones as possible. We see too many old headstones that are unreadable or partially destroyed, we want to do our part to save in pictures as many as we can.
Please report any errors we post (we want to be as correct as possible).

|Janey Benfield Phillips||Rance Ferguson Jett|
Rance Ferguson Jett was my grandfather, although he died long before I was born in 1952 to his youngest daughter Winnie, who was the 5th of 5 children born between 1900 and 1910 to him and Emma Booth Jett. I grew up in Sour Lake, just a few miles from the cemetery where this gravestone is located, and where other Jett descendants are buried. I scrolled through several pages of messages and didn't see any reference to this family of his. I knew he had at least one other family prior to the one I descend from, presumably the children whose names are listed on this post with the gravestone picture.
I found this site by googling his name when the question came up, was his name Rance or Ransom. If anyone has any questions about my side of Rance Jett's family, feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Now that we are "retired", my brother Byrne and I are interested in finding out more about our family, and this one thread appears to be a treasure trove! We will be looking at it in detail. Thanks!!

Unfortunately, I know nothing about this child or family. I inherited this memorial. If you have any other information about when this child died, I'll be more than happy to edit the death date.

Was wondering if you could insert # 54967168 as the mother of Bernell Tabor. Bernell is/was the great uncle of my wife.

Kathy....I saw one of your messages. I had a Dr. Jett in Terre Haute, Indiana. Just wondering if any relation in Indiana? Peace.....
Kathy I'm thinking there are some Jett family members buried in the Greenup, Cumberland County area? Is that part of your family? I'll have to look at my photos again.

Bob and Kathy,
thanks so much for adding the info on all the graves. You really do not need to credit me for the information. When I first started adding to this web-site, linking was not a service, so I ended up typing a LOT about children and spouses. Linking helps save time and allows researchers to open (sorry for the pun) a grave and find information on an entire family. I can link any parent to a child I listed, but can't add kids I didn't list to their parents. Because of that, I have met so many other genealogy and grave yard junkies who love helping each other.
If you ever see a grave with my name as manager, and you are related to them, ask - 90% of requests to transfer are honored, the ones I usually want to keep are those who are direct relatives of mine. But even then, if they are your great- great- grandparent, and my cousin, I will usually send it on to you.
May God bless your home this Thanksgiving. I will be remembering all these families that I have listed and all the new folks I have met, helped and been helped by.
