|Sandi Cheatham||A Heartfelt "Thank You!"|
May you be blessed for helping to lift my spirits by visiting my sister, Wilma Joyce Cheatham. Your act of kindness is so appreciated! Blessings! John 15:12(KJV)"This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you."
|Rob Clem||Johan Dietrich "Teter" Clem|
Teter was my 5th great grandfather and I'm trying to find as much information on him as possible. I recently made a visit to Virginia to visit all of the "touristy" sites (including, my favorite, Williamsburg). That inspired me to seek out my roots in Virginia. I'm mostly interested in the colonial period during the American Revolution. Turns out, Teter fought with the Virginia militia during the Revolutionary War, but I don't know any more than that. I'd like to know which regiment. I'm thinking he may've been in the 8th Virginia Regiment (aka "The German Regiment") under Peter Muhlenberg's command. I've seen some census and tax records for Teter, but not much else.
If, by chance, you see this message and have any information on Teter, please conact me via email and share your knowledge.
I'm originally from East Texas but currently live in the Birmingham, AL area. Speaking of Alabama, Where is "Peaches" located in Alabama?

|David McInturff||DNA testing|
The Meckendorfers are my distant ancestors, direct paternal line. I don't know how we are related. Have you ever considered having your DNA tested for genealogical purposes or not. If you have and if you have the financial means (about $100 a pop, but with discounts for additional folks being ordered at the same time), I would suggest www.23andme.com (with which I have no financial connection). For some reason they don't seem to advertise. Anyway, my wife and I did both Ancestry's and 23andme's DNA testing, and the latter's results were far more detailed and interesting. We're finding distant relatives, but so far none of them have done any genealogical research so I am unable to connect them to my family tree. It would be interesting to see how our DNA strands match.

|A Caring Person||Peaches|
Hi Debi, I was really moved by your memorial for Peaches. My favorite cousin, Cherie Shamblin, also died of Reyes Syndrome in Feb. 1974 at the age of 12. Her memorial is on this site. Likewise, Cherie was the youngest. She had an older brother and sister. I was only 10 when Cherie died, but I remember being told that the Reyes was a very traumatic thing.
I'm sorry for your loss. It sounds like Peaches was a real go-getter, like Cherie.
Thank you for sharing.
May God Richly Bless you and all of your loved ones.
All the best,
