I have always been intrigued with the rich history found in cemeteries. My mom always took me (since I was a very small child) with her to put flowers on family members' graves and I suppose that started my love of cemeteries. I am a licensed funeral director/embalmer in MO and IL. I am currently working to add records to Oak Hill by going through interment books and by walking the cemetery with my camera. I have personally photographed all of the markers in the gardens and have photographed all the grounds and am now re-walking the cem for clean up and pics I may have missed as well as trying to figure out to whom the illegibles belong. |
I am currently a funeral director in Belleville, IL and I have just begun photographing Mt. Hope Cemetery (another former Forever Cem)
I have high numbers because I enjoy spending time in the boneyards with my camera, not because I am a records hoarder! This being said...
*Please note, I will not link family members I have no connection to personally. I don't want to assume and possibly place inaccurate information as fact. If you send me a request to link, I will transfer the record to you so don't be surprised!
*Please ask my permission before using my photos. I am happy to let you use them for ancestry purposes.

Hi, I saw another message and I believe it said you had records of the Stephenson's buried in Oak Hill. My grandma, great grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, cousin, etc are buried there. I am the great granddaughter of Martha Stephenson and Thomas Burns. I have found some but not all of the Stephenson graves at Oak Hill. If you have info, I would appreciate it.

Thank you so much, Janis! I truly appreciate that you found the marker~~~ :)
83380743 was my high school chemistry teacher. One day he was leading a group of chemistry teachers on a bus tour and I just happened to have been designated to be their tour director. I would be honored to be able to add a decent biography to his memorial. His son died at age 48.

Albert Fred Newell was my mom's brother. Would I be able to have permission to use his tombstone photo in my ancestry online tree ? Thank you for taking it ! I've never gotten to see it, as he died before I was born.
