After spending a few years researching my family tree, I found very little information available on burials. When I found this site, I decided to help out, and list as many obits as I could, thinking it may help someone else researching their families.|
I live in Baker, LA now, born and raised in Baton Rouge, and spent 3 years in Central Michigan in the late 1960's.

I just realized, you are who took the photo of my father-in-law's grave in Port Hudson. I posted a thank you once before... but thanks again! Finding that photo when doing a web search for his name is how I stumbled upon Find-A-Grave in the first place. :-)

Thanks for the transfer! If you click on the photo that I posted, I wrote the details about the siege at Port Hudson... but I'll go ahead and post that in the bio section. There were about 5000 Union casualties (including deaths and wounds) from combat, and another 4000 Union deaths from disease, starvation, sunstroke, etc. In the long run, blocking the supply lines for both sides is what caused so many deaths. It's impossible to recover once you get ill if you are trying to regain your strength with nothing but rotten rat meat to eat!
We do have an Earl Blalock in Baton Rouge that is part of our family, but he is older than his 60's (he was born in 1930). His parents were Murphy John and Clara, and he was the 1st cousin of my father-in-law. How do you know him?

Thanks for adding this info. I am King's great granddaughter. King and Ella Mary (James) had a daughter Dorothy Mae Knox who married Frank Dorsey. They had 7 children one of which was my mom, Gail Dorsey Johnson. She passed away in 1991.

Hello, I just sent a note to you via the "edit" tab for William B. Park. I know sometimes I miss when I have edits waiting, so I wanted to mention it here as well. Many thanks for creating this memorial. :-)

Sometimes in life, we do something out of kindness without an understanding of the gravity of that kindness. I want you to know that your act of kindness is HUGELY appreciated. You can't know how much this transfer meant to me. I love Richard with all my heart. God only made one Richard Peterson, then broke the mold; so very special to so many people. The Memorial you created will help to keep his memory alive.
I'm ever grateful to you,
