Transfers: I will transfer ownership to direct descendants within four generations - the same as Find A Grave guidelines. Otherwise, I'm happy to add to memorials and make links, just click on the "Edit" tab on the top right of the memorial.|
One line of my ancestors (CROSE) lived in Tippecanoe Co., IN in the 1820s. Some of their cousins lived in the next county to the south, Boone, and some south of that in Hendricks Co. I live in northern Hendricks Co., and am taking photos mostly in Boone and Hendricks, including the older, more difficult to read stones. Hopefully, these photographs will be around longer than the headstones. Many are on the verge of not being readable - even with the sun at a good angle and using tricks to bring out the text.
Since I've been doing genealogy research for a number of years, I can see a real benefit in seeing headstones, rather than relying on a transcription. To me, the important thing is to be able to read the inscription (names & dates, child of ...), but not really the verse below it. It's also important to know who is buried next to who. I'll mention that if I notice a connection.
Cemeteries that are completed - meaning that I photographed everything and have posted all that was readable. Other transcriptions may have more names.
Beck - Bethel (Boone Co.) - Bethel (52nd St Indy) - Browns Wonder - Jones -
Lowry -Macedonia - Mintonye - Mt Union -
Mt. Zion - North Branch - Oak Hill (Sect 1-30, 34N & 34S) - Pleasant Hill (Indy) -
Pleasant View (Dover) - Poplar Grove - Prebster - Old Union Church - Richland - Robison - St. Malachy West - Salem -
Sparks - Taylor - Trotter (I can only find 33 of the 64 markers) - Weaver - Zionsville
I currently use a 10M Canon Powershot camera which will take pictures at 3648 x 2736 pixels. Normally I reset the resolution to 2272 x 1704 and then on the computer, especially with worn headstones, I turn up the contrast 20-30%, and lower the brightness 5-10% and keep the compression at 98 to 99%. When I started posting for Find a Grave, the photo file size limit was 250 KB, then 350, 500, 750, 2000 3000 and now 8000 KB. I use photo editing software that I downloaded for free - it's much better than what Canon or Olympus gives you with their camera. With Photoscape I know the file size before I save the file.

|Shirley Wadell||Orilee Ann Conner Crawford - Memorial 163055788|
Sorry. I made a mistake with her maiden name. I was thinking about my grandmother Clara McCullough Conner and totally blanked out. My aunt is Orilee Ann (Conner) Crawford. Crawford was her third marriage.
Thanks!! Shirley :)

I would like to request that you transfer the memorial for Loretta Jean Owens Bowling #95431202 to me. I am her half-sister and it would be nice to have her memorial in the family. She passed away before having children. My Find a Grave is #47711960.

Memorial 159550058 robert Wilson regarding my previous request, I have realized that Julia Wilson and Frances Killian were on sides or back of Robert Wilson and have since found their stones.Sorry that I didn't do a thorough search before sending you a message (researching in middle of night)
You and other volunteers that catalog grave yards are so appreciated. Thanks LaVona Wilson

I am inquiring about memorial 159550058 Robert and Rebecca Wilson stone..u say its the same stone as Julia Wilson and Frances Killen.. I am looking for Julia Wilson..how did you ascertain they are there? I see maybe the small stone to left of Robert says Frances. I see there may be small stone very near large stone but in shade and unreadable. Is this Julia Wilson? She is a distant relative of mine. Hopefully that is her. Thank you LaVona Wilson email@example.com

Your picture of the husband/wife tombstone was much better than mine so I deleted mine. I also transferred her management to you. Appreciate your interest and work in helping to preserve family histories.

I have some additional information Re: Robert Doty and his parents if you would like to update the memorial. You are correct his father is Thomas Doty, though he was buried under Dowty. He is often referred to as Thomas Dowty Jr. Robert's mother's name was Sarah Ann Cavanee, though once again, it is spelled often Cavaney, Cavanaugh, Kavanaugh, etc. They are buried in Moreland cemetery, Moreland, Ohio; Franklin township, Wayne county, Ohio.
Thomas Dowty Jr.- 28 Nov 1808-12 Aug 1880
Sarah Ann Cavanee Dowty- 18 Dec 1816-03 Mar 1889
Thomas Sowards Doty-1840-1928
Sarah Ellen-(twin) 1851-1905
John Wendel-(twin) 1851-1932

I am writing a two-volume book on the 8th Indiana. I would like to include photos of the soldiers and their headstones with their biographies. I would like to use some of your photos in the book and will give you credit in the caption for each photo. If you are interested, I can let you know when the book is published.
