Bio and Links
Bio Photo For many years I've done photography and been interested over the past few years in history and the military... interests that continue to grow.

Living in the shadow of the Washington Monument has given me easy access to fuel all of these interests and more. I work with the local US Army Special Forces Association chapter and have been blessed and privileged to photograph the final honors at Arlington National Cemetery.

Despite ANC's huge area and complexity, it's an outstanding tribute to those who have served to protect and defend the United States of America and the freedoms that we enjoy.

ONE of two cemeteries under the care of the US Army, the missions that are carried out daily during the week are successfully completed by the Third Infantry Regiment, also known as "The Old Guard"

In October 2007, after several months of photographing the missions of the Presidential Salute Battery, I was made an "honorary" member of this elite unit.

A great friend of the US Army Golden Knights, US Army Marksmanship Unit

Take a look at my website and you'll see some interesting items and results of my labors.

JUN 2011 Marked another "FIRST"

My first book, which is THE first book about a historic US Army Post with origins during the US Civil War was published - "Images of America - Fort Myer" became a reality. It is right next to Arlington National Cemetery

http://www.Historic-FortMyer.com is the website which complements the book.

Hi John,

I found a grave listing for someone I believe to be the Drill Sergeant I had in Basic at Ft Dix. The description of his service and age make me believe it may have been him. I have scanned his photo from my Basic Training Yearbook. Is there a way you could verify it is him. I can't imagine there could be tow soldiers with a name like that at the same time. I'll put the photo there for now. If it's not him, I'll remove it.

Thanks,
Bob Chaple

Anna & Charles Corcoran at ANC
The stone for Anna and Charles Corcoran at Arlington National is finally in place. Photos of their stone have been posted on their memorial pages, in response to your photo request from January, and as promised.

Papa
Would you mind transferring Col. Kenneth Ecklund Buell 59515225 to my care? He was my step-father. He and my mother were married for over 21 years an absolutely amazing man. If you would like to transfer his first wife, Dusty (Vivian) as well I will be happy to care for her as well. She died of lung cancer shortly after I met her. but I understand she was just as wonderful as he was.

RE: MG McClure...
MG McClure and his wife are already linked. She lays next to him. I will try to see about adding to her bio.

RE: MG McClure...
It was an honor! I plan on cleaning his (and his wife's)stone soon. It is the least I can do, thank you for the opportunity. Was he also involved with the CIA? I believe that is a story I have heard, that MG McClure was commissioned by the President to create what became the CIA.

Thomas J. Bragg in Alexandria National Cemetery

Hello John,

I just requested another photo of the gravestone of Thomas J. Bragg (1834-1864) in Section A, Grave 1962 in Alexandria National Cemetery.

I had requested a photo over a week ago and the request was fulfilled by a new volunteer. I have been taking volunteer photos at Togus National Cemetery here in Maine for over 3 years. I know that it takes a little while to get the hang of it. I offered help but no response.

Thomas Bragg is not an ancestor of mine, but I am sure he has many descendants who would be grateful for good photos of his gravestone.

I see that you have posted some fine photos for Alexandria National Cemetery and seem to be willing to communicate with people.

Can you help?

Thank you.
Sincerely, Tim Cooper

Grandfather
Thanks for taking a picture and indexing the grave of my wife's grandfather, Maj. Gen. Henry Baling Lewis. He was Omar Bradley's Chief of Staff in WWII, after graduating from West Point in 1913. He also served in China, Mexico, Panama, Ecuador and the Hawaiian Territory. More information, pictures and letters are on Ancestry.com - simply copy this URL and paste: http://trees.ancestry.com/view/Military.aspx?tid=18782532&pid=18002453006&vid=241a9f0e-f794-4296-bae0-bde0cf011786&mrgIgn=1&pt=1&pg=32768&pgPL=pid

Thanks again!
