Eighteen or nineteen years ago a friend told me she had a new hobby, genealogy, and how much fun she was having. I immediately contacted my mother who informed me that we owned three family Bibles. I have been deep into this ever since. I started with my mother's family in Loudoun County, VA. Her parents were third cousins, a fact she did not know. Of course I added my father's family, my husband's family, and both my daughter-in-law's and son-in-law's families. Then by adding wives, mothers, sisters, brothers, ancestors, descendants, I have ended up with a database of about 37,000. All are related to me or to someone I am related to.
Most of my time has been spent in Loudoun County, Virginia. I wrote two books on Union Cemetery in Leesburg, a book on Monocacy Cemetery in Bealsville, Montgomery County, MD, Death Records of Fairfax County, VA, and co-authored books on the Death Records of Loudoun County, VA and Marriages after 1850 in Loudoun County, Va. I have also been involved in the preparation of Cemetery Books published by Thomas Balch Library. All of these books are available through Heritage Books.

I am more than happy to share any information I have. My cemetery pictures are there for anyone who needs them. They have been taken over the last 19 years. I will ask that you let me know if you are using a family picture because that means you are probably at least a cousin and I want to know you.

If you see errors, please let me know. Let's get all these people linked! But PLEASE everyone, use the Edit button on the memorial that needs changing! It takes about 2 minutes to make changes using that button. It can take 1/2 an hour or more to find the memorial you would like changed, if you don't use that button, and often I cannot be sure if I am looking at the correct person even then. In that case I may spend an hour or more looking. That takes away from someone else's time. Be fair!

Thanks.

Cousin
Hello Betty,

Since I read on your profile that you would like to meet possible cousins, I am writing to you because I saw your profile through the Lee family and related families/descendants that you have created memorials for. They are cousins on my dad's side, although not close cousins. How are you related to them?

Shari

RE: Claude Manning - Union Leesburg
Oh, no, lovely to offer but not necessary. He is a distant cousin, and whether he is memorialized or buried there is of no import. It is only that in trying to find genetic matches, it would be nice to know where he was for the last 20 years and if he had descendants. Thanks for all you do!

RE: Claude Manning - Union Leesburg
I suspect the Claude in California is the Claude memorialized in Virginia ... the name and dates line up. No biggie, just like to tidy things up. Thanks for responding, and if you ever do find more, I would be interested. Best, Ellen

Hemelt birth date & marker photo
Hi Betty,
Thanks for the birth date & marker photo for Bernard Hemelt. May I use the marker photo to put in the entries I have for the Hemelts in my Family Tree Maker? I will state that they are being used "with the courtesy of Betty Frain."
I really enjoyed reading your profile & commend you on all the work you have done.
Many thanks,
John Beck
