Twenty-five years ago a friend told me she had a new hobby, genealogy, and how much fun she was having. I immediately contacted my mother who informed me that we owned three family Bibles. I have been deep into this ever since. I started with my mother's family in Loudoun County, VA. Her parents were third cousins, a fact she did not know. Of course I added my father's family, my husband's family, and both my daughter-in-law's and son-in-law's families. Then by adding wives, mothers, sisters, brothers, ancestors, descendants, I have ended up with a database of about 37,000. All are related to me or to someone I am related to.
Most of my time has been spent in Loudoun County, Virginia. I wrote two books on Union Cemetery in Leesburg, a book on Monocacy Cemetery in Bealsville, Montgomery County, MD, Death Records of Fairfax County, VA, and co-authored books on the Death Records of Loudoun County, VA and Marriages after 1850 in Loudoun County, Va. I have also been involved in the preparation of Cemetery Books published by Thomas Balch Library. All of these books are available through Heritage Books.

I am more than happy to share any information I have. My cemetery pictures are there for anyone who needs them. They have been taken over the last 19 years. I will ask that you let me know if you are using a family picture because that means you are probably at least a cousin and I want to know you.

If you see errors, please let me know. Let's get all these people linked! But PLEASE everyone, use the Edit button on the memorial that needs changing! It takes about 2 minutes to make changes using that button. It can take 1/2 an hour or more to find the memorial you would like changed, if you don't use that button, and often I cannot be sure if I am looking at the correct person even then. In that case I may spend an hour or more looking. That takes away from someone else's time. Be fair!

Thank you for transferring Elsie Cornwell to me. I'm working hard to get all the Cornwells linked.

Murray memorials
Betty, should you ever decide to leave Find A Grave, I would so love it if you would transfer Murray memorials to me. You have a treasure in all your connected memorials, and Murray is my maiden name.

I hope it is not out of line to make this request. Thank you.

You wrote me this message:
Somewhere I have a copy of the Murray Bible for this line. My mother turned down the original but they gave her a transcript instead. If I can find it I will send it. Will need a email address.

William Thompson
Betty, do you know anything more about William Thompson (114540380)? If you want to edit him, his birth date would of been 3/13/1808...

I've been trying to find a William J Thompson that died around 1831/1832 in Virginia... He is my 4th great grandfather... All I know of him is he was a young man when he died of cholera and he was born in Virginia or Maryland. He had 3 children: William L, Martha and John. When William died the children were orphaned and were brought to Missouri to be raised by a cousin... So I assume William's wife may of died as well...

This William does seem to fit the age I'm looking for...

Betty thank you so much for your reply, I shall wait patiently. If you refer to the memorial for Wilhelmina Cox #91269497 you will see the kind of photos I refer to. I like to see the surrounding area as well as the husband and wife stones in relation to one another, as I know I will probably never be able to get there in person.
Thank you again for your time

Hi Betty
I want to thank you so much for adding photos to my memorials.
I was wondering if you could take a photo of the two headstones side by side?
Also a photo with the surrounding area with the headstone in it.

Thank you very much again
