My husband's aunt was an interesting character, and she started me in genealogy. She had kept a book of births, deaths, marriages for my husbands side of the family and she shared that with me. we did some family reunions when I got to meet many of these people. I then started on my own side of the family. My first foray was to photograph cemeteries where I knew my relatives were buried. I started with names that were familiar in my trees, and sometimes I took ones of gravestones that were interesting to me. When my father died, all of a sudden I realized that I didn't know much about my father's family; and I started in earnest. Now that I am retired, it is a hobby that I enjoy very much.
