JKMurtry in Old Village Cemetery

In looking at Civil War Records online, I have found that this is definitely for J. K. McMurtry (stands for John Kirkpatrick). He was a member of Company G, 29th Regiment, Illinois Infantry.

Please change your entry for this gravesite.

Thank you,

Lisa Schaefer

JKMcMurtry Entry Old Village Cemetery

You might want to recheck the tombstone as the inscription looks like it should be J. K. McMurtry. The "R" in McMurtry does not look like the second initial.

Thank you so much for adding all the information to the bio section. Caroline had a complicated life, so, maybe, this will help those who are looking for the connection decipher the trail. and thank you so much for the credit notice...that was a sweet little surprise! Wasn't required, but it sure was sweet to see it!

Caroline Nickels Hawk
Hello Darrell,

I do have Smith family in Ebenezer, found Caroline Nickels Hawk name this morning 10-27-13 Gosh, if this is my Great Grandmother Mary Smith (Hawk's) mother, Caroline Nickels Hawk, this is a great find, and I'm much appreciative of your time and effort. Caroline had married John Nickels after her first husband either died or they divorced.

I am on Long Island, New York.
