I am Helen (Roberts) Kennedy, a descendant of Joseph Roberts and Mary Jane Stewart who were residents of Marengo County Alabama during their adult lifetime.
My brick wall is locating the parents of Joseph Roberts, he was born about 1814 in South Carolina. His first marriage was to Mary A. Johnson 1834 in Marengo County Alabama when he was about age 20. Mary Johnson died in 1845.
Joseph's second marriage was to Mary Jane Stewrt 1845 in Marengo County Alabama. Joseph Roberts & Mary Stewart had 4 children, John, Nancy, Charles and James.
I'm also researching the surnames, Burkhalter, Knight, Stewart, Menasco, Sanders, Grimes and others.
