Sarah Jane "Jennie" Little Jordan I added your note to Sarah Jordan's page. I linked her page to her parent's pages. Her parent's have very little info on their pages and I did not send the person who made those pages any edits to improve that. The person who linked Sarah's son Roy Weedman linked him as both Sarah's son and her husband!! Groan. I sent him an edit to fix that mistake. I tried to find William Triplett but did not find him. I added an obit to Sarah's page if that helps. Nathan
Henry Duff's descendents Dear Mr. Topping, First of all, thank you for the work you do. I have been searching for information about my Grandfather, Henry Duff for nearly my entire life. My father, Charles Amos Duff of Marietta Ohio was his son. Dad was born 23 November 1920. My Uncle John Virgil Duff, was born in May 1922. Like my Uncle Edwin & Aunt Lotte (short for Charlotte), Dad and Uncle John (who was known as Pete as a boy) also went into the Washington County Children's Home, where they stayed until 1940. Lucy May Shook was their mother too. She rarely visited them at the Home.
Don't be sad about them having to live in the Home. Dad & Pete loved it. I have lots of their photos of them growing up there and they had nothing but praise for Mr. Alfred G. Marcus and his Wife who ran the place. I still have the amber handled safety razor that Mrs. Marcus gave Dad when he graduated from Marietta High School.
I was aware that Aaron Duff and Ann Treadway were Henry's parents, but beyind that, I know nothing about them. Family folklore says that Aaron was a Scot who emigrated to America in 1832 and that Anne was one of the Baltimore Treadway's. I note from some of your other records that Ann was actually Mary Ann and that her father was from New Jersey.
My Dad died in 2002 and Uncle Pete passed in December 2013. Dad was living in Scotland with me and Uncle Pete had lived his whole life less than a mile from the Children's Home. Dad and I visited him there on numerous occasions and in 1993 we all went in search of Henry's grave in Scot's Town Cemetery but we never found it.
I would like to correspond with you to learn as much as I can. my email address is: firstname.lastname@example.org
I live in the Isle of Skye in the Hebridean Isles off the West Coast of Scotland.
Uncle Pete was aware of Henry's relationship with Arah Burford but to my knowledge never knew that they were married. We had also not known about John Henry Duff, who would have been dad's half brother.
I grew up hearing stories about Henry Duff - called "Fiddlin' Hen" as much for his mastery of the fiddle as for his philandering. Dad had memories of helping Henry at a Still in the woods making white lighting and selling it in Mason jars.
We also do not have any photographs of Henry Duff. If you could put me in touch with any of his descendents via Arah Burford Duff, perhaps they might have some pics of him? Also, do you know if Henry is actually buried in the same lair as Arah? She was obviously proud of being a Duff, else his name would not appear on her headstone. Perhaps some of her grandchildren might be able to fill in some of the blanks for us.
Thanks again for your work. You cannot imagine how pleased I was when I found the results of your research.

Mary E. Hanlon/Handlon Mead Wondering if you are related to this family. I assure there is no "d" in our name. Her father is the older brother of my husband's great-grandfather, Felix Hanlon. Strange enough, Felix's son, Norman, married Bertha Rose Haught so my husband's paternal grandparents are named Hanlon and Haught and I did extensive research on them and published my findings back in 1995.
I am now researching the Joy family of Monroe and Washington Counties, OH and by coincidence, Mary Anne Joy married Rufus Hanlon and so there is a connection to my husband's mother's Joy family also.
Mary E. Hanlon Mead's parents are Rufus Hanlon and Mary Anne Joy for sure. They lived in Ohio, but Rufus died in a Confederate Prison in Tyler, TX on 19 Oct 1864 leaving Mary Anne with seven children ages 3 - 13. She remained in Ohio, but I can't find where Rufus is buried.
I thought Mary E and Samuel Mead were buried in Ohio, but after reading your info, I am still looking and if I find anything certain, will let you know.
