Any memorial (not just mine) with inaccurate info dishonors that deceased person, and is too-often replicated in family trees and publications. FindAGrave.com is an excellent source of info about someone in a family tree, so memorial owners try to accurately state as much as they can about the person who died, even if it's only a date of death and a name... the latter is much better than having the wrong info about that person!

The "Suggested Edits" button on all memorials is a highly efficient method for submitting a request to change the content of a memorial or request a transfer. It also leaves an invaluable trail that shows what was changed on the memorial, who requested the change or transfer, and when the request was submitted. I will not accept a transfer request submitted via my mailbox. For transfers, I usually follow the FAG guidelines, but will transfer in exceptional cases.

I always ensure that a suggested change is accurate before I approve the request. If my data shows that the request is incorrect, or if I can't verify the info, I'll deny the request and provide the reason. If the reason I state disagrees with your data, use the "Suggested Edits" button on the memorial to send me a message with proof that my data is wrong.

Biographies in memorials I own may include undocumented info about that person, but it's stated as a family legend so the reader will know that further research should be done. Sometimes there's a tiny bit of truth in a family legend, but it should be stated as a legend, not as a fact.

Please be assured that I'm neither combative nor confrontational, just someone who loves genealogy, and preserving the memories of those who've passed away. My family tree includes many common surnames, (including several very different Jones lines) and lots of people having common given names that were passed down to each new generation. Because of this, I learned long ago to document each and every person in my tree using credible sources so that I can add him/her to the correct family. That's why I document memorials before I create them, and when I maintain them.
