The link below will take you to my sister's posting at Rootsweb. I have been researching my family for a little over 15 years now. However, I cannot take credit for all the info in my data file. As is usually the case with researchers, I have been blessed to have much help along the way. I now try to "pass it forward" whenever I can...and is why I have made my file available on the Internet. |
Presently my main focus is on my Rogers family. I descend from two separate lines of Rogers. One line, James A. Rogers, connects to my father's family and the other, Drupina Rogers, to my mother's family. DNA results confirm that these are two unrelated Rogers family lines.
I have seven grandmothers of various degrees of "greats" that I am trying to connect to their ancestors; 1.Lizzie Brown (Wife of John Washington Nail), 2.Permelia Hogg (Wife of Christopher Cooper), 3.Sarah Elizabeth Holloway (Wife of James A. Rogers, 4.Sarah Graves (Wife of David Jackson Selph), 5.Eliza W. Lock (Wife of Moses Woodward)and 6. Drupina Rogers (Wife of John M. Cooper)7. Sarah Bradley (Wife of John M. Burton.
I currently have the female mtDNA tests in progress for Lizzie Brown, Permelia Hogg, Drupina Rogers and Sarah Bradley. I am still trying to find a directline female descendant to do the test for Sarah Graves, Eliza W. Lock & Sarah Elizabeth Holloway. Any help to find these descendants would be very much appreciated.
I am working with several Rogers descendants that are from the Everett Rogers line. Using the female mtDNA testing I was able to prove that my Drupina Rogers was the daughter of Everett's first wife...though her name is unknown at the time. I also work with several Cooper descendants that are hoping to find the ancestors for Permelia Hogg as she is our direct line.
If you should have any information on any of the above women please contact me. You can view what I have on them at my Rootsweb posting.

You are most welcome!

Sandra, I think you may have a mistake here. This Sarah does not appear to be related in any way to George and Jane Fields of Montague County, TX. I'd love to compare notes.

I would like to thank you for all the information you posted to William Silas Rodgers's memorial page. He is my great-great-great grandfather, via his daughter Laura Sue Rodgers Walters. I just wanted to say "THANKS" and let you know that I have linked Laura's memorial page to his.

I visited the grave of William Rogers born 1763 and died 1821/1822 with a cousin this past summer. It is located in White Co. TN. He does not have a tombstone only a mound with rocks placed like a mosaic picture all over it. Susannah his second wife is buried by him, but she does have a very unique tombstone.
This William, Sr. buried in White Co. is the father of William, Jr. who is buried in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Dunlap, TN and died in 1849. You have the picture of the second tombstone on this site. It does not have any dates only a reference to his work in the Methodist Churches in the Valley. This tombstone was made to replace the old slab tombstone which apparently did have dates according to Peacock in her book on Methodists.

I am trying to locate her gravesite.
I believe she was still live with daughter, Doscia (findagrave 33422215) in Milan TX at the time of death. If you have any further information to help that would be great.
She was my late husband's 4th Grt Grandmother.

HUNTERS IN ALABAMA - WINSTON OR WALKER COUNTY
Do you know anything about John Hunter, born about 1827-1828. Father was Samuel Hunter. Known siblings are Robert, Henry, Sarah, Catherine.
|Becky||RE: John Henney|
Sandra, do you know if your John Henney lived in the Germantown area?
I am so sorry that it wasn't him. Unless they spelled his name wrong on the gravestone. But he was surrounded by others by that surname. The cemetery records show his surname to be Henny. I am not sure which one is incorrect. One of the John Hanna gravestones had Company C, 63rd Ohio Inf on it, but no dates.
Many blessings to you as well,
