William Finch Mead
I am looking for information on WFM. My great grandfather was Edwin R Mead. The was born in New Orleans, la. It appears WFM was in NOLA around 1860 as a school teacher and may have been married twice. It appears my great grandfather's mother was Mary C Wood Mead.

Can anyone share info on how or why WFM was in NOLA?

Thank you for the picture
Thank you so much for the pictures of Simon and Minnie Jacobson from Hebrew Friendship cemetary. I know absolutely nothing about my mother's family, she was very secretive. I have found out a lot thru help from folks like you. Thanks again.

RE: Terance McCart's Grave
Margot, you certainly are on the case to unravel the mystery. All of Terance's son James S. McCart (my g-g grandfather)and family were buried at the Holy Cross Cemetery and moved to Woodlawn. As you pointed out, I have not been able to locate Terance there.

The oldest son of Terance named John had his funeral at St. Pius according to the 1894 obit but don't know where he and his family are buried.

Next daughter Alice married Henry Lee Kendall and her funeral was at St. John's according to the 1892 obit but I don't know where she and her family is buried. She was taking care of her mother "Ann" McCart who died in 1885 so I suspect that at least Terence's widow was buried with the Kendalls. Alice Kendall's daughter Susan Clark ran a boarding house in the late 1800s and seems to be taking care of other family members including cousins.

Next son George McCart (funeral at St. Vincent's in 1902) and family were buried at what is now New Cathedral Cemetery but I have not located their graves there yet.

I will send you a list of genealogical data of what I have about the descendants of Terence McCart by email.

Thanks for digging away at this for me. This has been so difficult to figure out. - Bill

RE: Terance McCart's Grave
Thanks so much, Margot. I look forward to hearing about where any of the cemetery leads take you. He must've have been moved somewhere, but where? Terance's wife Nancy "Ann" outlived her husband for many decades. When she died, she was living with her daughter Alice Kendall. I suspect that Ann is buried with the Kendalls and I am still trying to find them too.

Thanks for checking on the church records too!
I will patiently wait for more from you.

RE: Terance McCart's Grave

Here is the information about the burial of Terance McCart.

Birth: 1803
*Tyrone, Ireland
Death: Aug. 6, 1845
Baltimore city
Maryland, USA

St. Patrick's Cemetery: On the 7th of August 1845, was buried Terance McCart, aged 42 years.

Rev. James Dolan
Deaths and Interments 1825-1853
Page 146
On the 6th inst., Turns McCart, aged 42 years, a native of county Tyrone, Ireland. His friends and acquaintance are respectfully invited to attend his funeral, from his late residence, Spring street, east of Pratt, this (Thursday) afternoon, at 2 o'clock, without further notice. Baltimore Sun 8/7/1845

It seems that another FindaGrave volunteer named Robert Breneman may have already gone to St. Patrick's and could not find a stone. Perhaps you can check further with New Cathedral Cemetery for me. I now live overseas so getting to Baltimore myself is difficult. I have found some more info on this g-g-g grandfather and plan to publish a memorial to him when I find the grave. (even a location without a marker).

Thanks, Bill

Duplicate entry in Find A Grave
It would appear that your addition of Sarah Williams Mead in the Second Congregational Church Cemetery (New Burial Ground) was duplicated. When you get a chance, can you delete one of them?
