Bio and Links
Bio Photo Native to Zanesville, OH, I am the son of the late Dale Denver Darst and Peggy Eileen Lewis and have resided at Dallas, TX since April of 1983. I graduated from The Ohio State University in March of 1982, with a B.S. in Education.

[Derst Message Board / Gravel Hill Cemetery]

My passion for family history started the day I visited The Alamo at San Antonio back in early 1984; witness to a painted portrait of Jacob Calloway Darst, whom I later realized was a first cousin (5 generations removed).

My great great great grandparents were Francis Erwin and Nancy Jane Darst. Pretty new to all of this all in all, but thought I would drop a line and say hello!

Michael Fred Darst
Hello Robert,
Thank you for the Edits for Michael. I had to laugh when I saw the requests today because when I added Michael last night you were the first person I thought of when I added him and wondered if you possibly knew anything about him. Michael is buried beside Andrea Sue Wolf and the stones are very similar. Is Andrea his mother? There is a Michael Fred mentioned in her obituary who is her son that preceded her in death but it did not mention that his last name was Wolf or Darst.

Take care

Hello, I saw that you had added the Masonic Emblem to my Daddy's grave site. We are from the Mason, West Virginia area, which is right across the bridge from Pomeroy, Ohio. Wondering since your Mom was a Lewis, and my Mom was a Lewis if we might be related. Or could we be related through the Cartwright name. Thanks for posting this on my Daddy's grave site.

COPLEY, Wm. S. & John E.
Hi Robert!

So nice to have you as a Find A Grave contributor; "Thank You" for all your endeavors as a contributor.

I need a favor re.:
COPLEY, William S., your Find A Grave mem. #78301293
and
John E. Copley, your Find A Grave mem. #78301248

Could/would you please transfer these two memorial to the:
Copley Cemetery
Webb
Wayne Co., WV

These are ancestral maternal family members of mine; the Webb Cemetery, Wayne Co., WV, is located near the Wayne Co./Lincoln Co., WV, line near Ranger, Lincoln Co., WV - quite a distance from Webb, Wayne Co., WV (actually, on "the other side of Wayne Co., WV".)

The Copley Cemetery at WEBB, WV, is an historical family cemetery of mine; gunshot holes in the church building, located in/near the Cemetery, supposedly occurred during the Civil War.

I descend from Thomas Copley, Sr., 1st settler of the Blue Stone River/New River Settlement (area in Southern West Virginia and North Central Virginia); Thomas, Sr., was a Veteran of the Rev. War, having served at Pt. Pleasant, (West)Virginia (at the time this area was in what was then Northwestern Virginia), Pt. Pleasant being located on the Ohio River (quite a journey from Blue Stone River/New River area! Rev. Thomas Copley, Jr., was responsible for establishing the Copley Church/Cemetery at WEBB, Wayne Co., WV (so I've been told - I wasn't there LOL!).

Myrtle Sue (Copley) Hall was also mistakenly posted (by someone else) to the Webb Cemetery, Ranger, WV; Find A Grave now maintains her memorial (?reason - I don't know); both her parents sleep at the Copley Cemetery, WEBB, Wayne Co., WV, and her memorial should be transferred - perhaps Find A Grave could do that.

Again, my sincere thanks for all you do as a Find A Grave contributor.

Della

Hi, I discovered that their graves are actually in Suncrest Cemetery. It is next to and across the street from Lone Oak Cemetery, which does not have an entrance marker to identify the cemetery by name nor to indicate that it is a separate cemetery from Lone Oak. (Go figure!)

Bryan Family
I have just begun research on my husband's family tree, and I noticed you have several of his Bryan ancestors in your virtual cemetery. Are you related?

Was curious after seeing you left a note on my Great Aunt Elizabeth's page back in 2014 what your connection is. I'm new to this site and am interested in connecting with family members. Are you related?

Catherine Rife Darst 1783-
You may already have this information. I found Catherine Darst on the Morgan, Gallia, Ohio 1860 Census living next door to daughter, Nancy Jane Erwin. She's on the 1850 Census as well, with Abraham 1778-1858 again, living next to Nancy Jane Erwin.

Your information does not clearly list the wifes name - - is it possible that it is Alma O Estep Osborn who is Buried in Stilesville Indiana - - - She did have two daughters and a Son as mentioned in your article. Her Find a Grave # is 98019173
