I started genealogy about 5 or 6 years ago. Surnames on my Mother's side include McDaniel, Bullock, Drew, Carpenter, Kinser, Bowman, Bowles, Hunt. Most of these families were in the Clay, Jackson, Owsley, Madison and Rockcastle County areas of Kentucky. On my Fathers side I am researching surnames of Gregory, Harlan, Green, Pate, Kidwell, Laswell. Alot of these families came up from Tennessee and settled in Monroe, Barren, Warren, and Butler counties of Kentucky. If you think we might be related, I'd love to hear from you! Dont forget the _underscore_ between promar and 1963 in my email address. I noticed it's hard to see on here.
Bullock Russell, Hi, When I was at Hillcrest yesterday, I took a photo of Catherine Lancaster's headstone, Russell Bullock's 2nd wife if you want to start a page for her on Find a Grave, I have the photo. Maryann
RE: Thank you I cropped the photo for the Memorial Page. Neither my husband nor his sister (from whom the photo came) knew the other couple or the children in the background. At first my husband wasn't sure where it was taken but now says he thinks it was at the farm of Arthur and Ellen in Butler Twp., Vandalia, OH. He says that the view of the house is from the rear. Since Ellen died in 1946, I believe the photo to have been taken perhaps late '30's or early '40's. If you would like to see the photo in it's entirety, I'd be happy to email it to you - just let me know where you'd like it to go. You're right - it is neat old photo, and I dearly love old photos. The other "new" old photos I recently received are from the Hellard family - Ellen's father and mother and a couple of maternal uncles (surname Hurley).
Ellen Hellard McDaniel # 37164726 Marvin, I believe it was you who asked me several years ago via email if I had a photo of Ellen Hellard McDaniel. At that time, I did not but I told you I'd be on the lookout. I have, at long last, been given several old photos and have just uploaded one of them who my husband identifies as Arthur and Ellen (Hellard) McDaniel to Ellen's Memorial. Certainly the gentleman looks like the photo of Arthur on his memorial, and the woman has that full, round-faced look of a Hellard so I believe my husband is correct. Should you wish a copy of the photo, let me know, and I would be more than happy to email it to you. Best wishes, Linda
Drews (Clendenens) Marvin, My name is James Walter Drew Whitaker (aka James Walter Drew, II) and I am the 3rd G-grandson of Charles (Clendennen) Drew (abt. 1812-abt. 1903).... 3rd G-grandfather Charles (Clendennen) Drew took his step-father John Drew's surname... I took the DNA test and it proved that the Drew family's oral tradition down the years was correct about ggg-grandfather Charles' biological father was a Clendennen probably the grandson of William Clendenen of Orange Co., NC... I'd love to hear from you. Best regards, Drew Whitaker
