RE: THANKS Tom, As an additive, there is no politics for stupidity! These dummys who think they know how to handle power and control don't seem to grasp reality at all. They want big money for their decision-making abilities, but since when did they ever really think they could control the hand of God? Kinda silly, I think. The ocean is a very big place, full of good and bad, and it is an important part of the earth. A politician can not close the ocean to the state nor the coast. Impossible. But they have had meetings and hearings on closing the ocean to conserve the fish.... like I said, they are dummys.
I spent time in western KY and was surprised they had a lot of common ground with parts of Washington. Plenty of green grass, green trees, and the like. What was not common to me was the sky. It seemed like it was closer to the earth...I mean sunrise and sunset, and the rain seem like it came from just above me. Interesting difference. We have what we call rivers over here, but ours are not nearly as wide as many of those in Grayson. And the waters of Green River seem like a passage on the bay, rather than a river. A true surprise to me. I'd love to come back and do more exploring in KY. I didn't get the chance during my two weeks to see all that I had intended, but I was after family information of which I found quite a bit.
My fun in genealogy was to make an entry for the county records I have for burials in Grays Harbor County. Grays Harbor used to be called Chehalis County back in time, and throws people from far away a curve ball when doing their research up here. You see, we have a town called Chehalis in another county, named after the small Indian tribe of Chehalis. Interesting history of all that...but the tribe and the town have no relation to our county that used to be. This county up until the last few years were mostly timber people, and those who wanted a different experience were in the fishing industry. Sadly, the area has been over fished and the supply does not meet the demand today. Currently there is a war about some non-thinking adults that they was to close the ocean to all fishing....Seems to this old mind that God put that ocean here because of it's wealth..... I won't go into the state of stupidity that faces our locals.
Have you sought out the Barretts up here in the area? Satsop is a mere community on a hill top that encompasses less than a hundred houses, some of which are empty. Poor area, though of the working poor. Couple farms in the valley, and a few inhabitants that are interesting because of their differences.
Let me know if I might be able to help you in your Barrett info.
Oh yes..KY. Love it there. Spent a summer in Grayson and played in Ohio, Butler and the surrounding area. Never saw where you are, but maybe I will get there another time. Z
Cemetery Photos Owsley & Clay Hello, you mentioned having photos from Owsley, Clay and other counties. My Great Grandfather was George Nye Glass (lived in Lexington & buried Lexington KY). I'm looking for burial location of his parents and they were in the Owsley Co area at one time. When you have a chance, please see if you have a photo or any info on location of graves for: 1)Rufus Finley Glass 1817 to abt 1871 2)Jane Muncy Glass b1815 d after 1870 (others say OWSLEY County but I'm not sure)
They had several children.
Came from VA and see them a lot in Laurel Co I appreciate your time.... Linda
