Ivan Robert Clark
He is my step uncle and I believe you have the birthdate wrong. This is according to New York, Find A Grave Index, 1660-2012 on ancestry.com. The birthdate should be Jan 4 1943. If you have any other info on him I would love to have it.

Aloha

RE: Clarks
Glad to hear from you. I see you have done a lot of research on the Clarks. I have also found there were more daughters and another son for Joseph. I think I have researched every Clark and every Taylor in Steuben County. I live in Seneca County which is very close to Steuben and have been to Steuben many, many times to do genealogy. What you have accomplished makes a lot of sense to me.
Right now, I am trying to gather more information. All I know for sure is that my great-great-grandmother, Diana Butler, was a Taylor before she married. And I understand her mother was a Clark. Also, about 30 years ago, an elderly cousin told me that great-grandfather Butler visited a cousin in Cameron, N.Y. Her name was Rosetta Hallet, daughter of Eleseph and Abigail Howe. Abigail's maiden name was Clark and your Clarks seem to be the only ones that fit. Believe me, I have checked them all.
One thing I have found lately is a Joseph Clark in Massachusetts on the 1800 census with a young daughter under 10. The ages of the parents correspond with the ages of your Joseph and Abigail.
Right now I am trying to determine the names of all of Joseph's children by studying the census and other records I have accumulated. I will let you know how this works out.
Please keep in touch. I am impressed with what you have done.

RE: Clarks
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
I remember many years ago visiting the cemetery where Isaiah Booth was buried and seeing his grave so I was pleasantly surprised to find your information on him and the Clarks.

The Clarks appear on my Butler line and on my Howe line. My ancestor, Samuel Butler, lived in Nelson, Madison County, N.Y., when Isaiah Booth and Joseph Clark did in the same neighborhood. Joseph Clark and Samuel Butler moved to Steuben County at the same time and lived in Bath for a while, also in the same neighborhood. Later Samuel lived in Jasper. Samuel's son, Neri, married a daughter of John Taylor, who also lived in the same area in Bath and in Troupsburg where some of your Clarks lived. John Taylor's wife is supposed to be a Clark. Also a relation on my Howe line shows that Eliseph Howe married an Abigail Clark, born about 1813. They also lived in Troupsburg and Cameron the same time as your Clarks. In most of the above locations, they lived next door to each other.

This is about all I know for sure. Basically, I was wondering if Joseph Clark could have had a daughter about 1800 named Polly and another daughter about 1813 named Abigail. I noticed on the early census that Joseph appears to have several daughters.

I hope I have explained this. It can get confusing. I've done research for many years and have eliminated the other Clarks in Steuben Co.

Thanks again for anything you can tell me.

Clarks
Hello - I want to thank you for the information on Find A Grave on your Clark ancestors. I happened to find it the other day while looking up my Clark family. My Butlers lived next to your Joseph Clark in Madison County and in Steuben County, N.Y. I think there is a connection.

I would appreciate hearing from you.

RE: Obadiah Griffin
Hi Jean,

Wow! Yes cousins we are.

Yes being the fifth great grand daughter of the Griffin family is something we share in common.

Thank you for giving me the names in your family lineage as I can look them up on the internet ancestry website.

My grandfather gave me a family chart made out by his mother Beula Griffin in 1943.

Beula was the grand daughter of Robert Griffin and great grand daughter of Isaac Griffin.

I have a picture of Isaac Griffin that my grandfather gave me. He is dressed very nicely and holding an apple. Maybe why the Griffin cemetery plot is round analogous to the Garden of Eden with the apple being the main theme.

I posted the picture of Isaac Griffin on the find a grave website. I can email you if you like.

Isaac's grandaughter Helen Griffin married the first President of Eastman Kodak and was one of the richest men in America during that time. I have an article which i re wrote for the find a grave website which talks about Robert Isaac Griffin being well known in the city of Niles in 1904.

Robert was still farming at the age of 75 according to the census. Was he farming apples?

I would love to have the ancestry from the family Bible!

I had an old plate picture of Obadiah..he looked a handsome man with longer hair...my grandfather gave me. However, I can't find it.

Let me know your email address and I will email other writeups about the griffin ancestry. One was named Henry Griffin Strong prominent in motor car industry of nation. Another of my grandfather's cousins married the governor of Hawaii..George Carter.

My email address is cathys848@gmail.com. My name is Cathy Sargent.

This is so much fun!

I have a picture of Isaac Griffin which my grandfather gave me.Yes we are related and being the fifth great grandfather also fits into my time frame as well.

Obadiah Griffin
Hi Jean,

I guess you and I are related as Obadiah is my fifth great grandfather on my father's side. My grandfather gave me a photo of Isaac Griffin which I uploaded for the find a grave website. He also gave me a plate picture of Obadiah. It is somewhere in my file cabinet.

My grandfather was the great great grandson of Isaac Griffin who was Obadiah's son. They all seem to be buried at Silverbrook in a circle.

Do you know much about Isaac Obadiah's son? He was well liked and well known. His daughter Helen married the founder of Eastman Kodak. My grandfather and father were named after him.

Clark Family
Jean, thanks for transfering the Clarks to me. I've enjoyed working on some of the memorials today. I'm new to this excited to share info where I can. Especially my direct line. You asked if I'd seen William Wallace Clark and all the family you connected to him. Actually I can't locate him. What's his memorial #?

Jean would you transfer maintenance of my grandmother's memorial to me? Appreciated it. Thanks for all you've done. It looks nice, you've done a good job. I haven't looked them up but do you also have her husband Fred H Clark, and his parents? I'd love to have them all if you don't mind. Thanks Sharon

Children of Ellis R. Clark & Linda Hamilton
Jean, Ellis and Linda Clark had two daughters who are not listed on Find a Grave. I don't know where they are buried. In the 1900 US Census states they had 4 children. Interesting since there is a 13 year gap between the daughters. Anyway here's the info on the daughters.
They are my great aunts. Their brother Fred Clark is my grandfather.

Jennie E. Clark

d. 27 Feb 1941
Md. 1 Sep 1898 Wilford H. Pennoyer
Wilford died 1934 and is buried in the Hope/Rural Cem Hornell, Steuben, NY

D. 4 Oct 1940
