|Corrections for any posting marked as our family require sources and documentation for verification before corrections are made. You will, of course, be cited as supplying the information. Corrections for postings that are not our family do not require sources but I will post the source[s] if you like. Please use the 'edit' tab on the posting in question. We will not copy, verbatum, obituaries sent to us to post. Even though the copyright has expired it's still stealing to copy someone else's work. We will, however, source the publication, date and page and post information given in the obituary. |
We work hard on our postings and do not rely only on a cemetery inscription book. We try to add more than just a name and date[s]. We try to link family members. We do not add obituaries for reasons other than stated above. Until recently, obituaries were little more than death notices and give little or no information. We also do not cut and paste death certificate info from familysearch.org or ancestry.com. It looks bad and all the info given on the death certificate is added in the appropriate fields within the posting. If we have biographical information for an individual we do add it. If we have made a mistake in familial linkings, please notify us.
If you find that we have duplicated a posting please inform us so that it can be deleted. There is no need to send a barrage of messages, the duplicated posting will be removed in one to two days.
Transfers of postings will be made according to Find-A-Grave guidelines only. When requesting a transfer, please show how you are related. We will not consider transferring members of our family lines. We did transfer a family member to another because they stated that they had a bio to add. The bio was not added, they just wanted the posting. This Oberlin is at least six generations removed from the person posted. Burnt by family, won't be burnt again.
Of course family members will be linked and we would love to hear from you.
