My name is Donna. I live in upstate NY. I've been doing online genealogy for several years and I have to say, I'm addicted!
I have traveled to Swanton, VT to see in person and take pictures of the headstones of my ancestors of that area. My grandmother, Grace Gladden, grew up in VT. Since I've been doing genealogy, I've officially traced my ancestry to the Mayflower, which I find to be quite exciting!
Doing ancestry to me is like putting together a big puzzle or trying to solve a mystery. The surnames I've been researching include Beland, Gladden, Camp, Aseltine, Knapp, Bridgman, Hurlbutt, Parks, Dixon, Claar, Brown, Hammond and Nagle to name a few.
RE: Electra Sayre Chamberlain Knapp Great! will do. The spelling on the headstone should dictate how the memorial is set up. Her last name was Knapp at the time of death, so Chamberlain (surname from first marriage) would not be on the memorial.
Maryjean DuShane Per your request to transfer management of Maryjean DuShane, I could do that but you wouldn't be able to delete my entry for the memorial so I am going to delete it myself but first I wanted to be sure there was nothing on my entry that you wanted to save.
RE: John B. Beland I looked at the memorial # 29253230. It states that Jean/John Baptiste worked in a Granite Quarry. Fall River was full of granite quarries as many of our mills, mansions, city hall, Cheateau Summere in Newport and several NYC structures were made of Fall River Granite blocks. I suggest you go the Fall River Public Library Website. They have a section for Obituaries. It will instruct you on how to request a copy of John B. Beland's (died around 09.09.1923) obituary for the man buried alone in a double grave in Notre Dame Cemetery. They have all the old newspapers on film and will send you his obit. This will at least give you more details on the man buried in the unmarked grave I located today. Let me know how you make out. Ken
RE: John B Beland oops. I saw that you posted grave location information. I will be happy to locate and photograph the grave for you. It may take me a short while as i just got out of the hospital 2 days ago. Have a great day. Ken
Doyle's I recently took a lot of pics from this cemetery and added some graves that you had requested photos for. Sorry but your your photos are up there for you. If they are your family I can transfer management if you like. Christ church Anglican cemetery
