Gail Conn Bell
Dear Dennis,
Gail was my cousin and I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. Her father (Uncle Jonny)and my dad (Dewey or Uncle Dink as the called him ) were brothers any information you could send me on Gail would be greatly appretiated since we were not that close ie; how she passed away and how many children she had and any living siblings of hers. I believe the last we saw of you folks was up in Montana at my oldest sisters house some time ago.My dad is still living (84 yrs old) not doing all that great but sad to see them all leaving us.Thank you in advance for any information you can pass along. My email address is rogerconn09@comcast.net

RE: William Shelley
No - Not a member of the LDS church, but I have been to the local LDS library here. I have access to the Ancestry.com website through our local public library.

Thank you for all the time and effort you are giving this. It can be so frustrating but can be so fun at the same time.

RE: William Shelley
I have access to Ancestry at our local library. At home I use the LDS website.I have found some stuff through the Henry County website.
What information have you found? Is it Shelley family or McDowells? I was able to trace the Mcdowell side back pretty far but I cannot find William Shelleys parents, or his siblings. At first I was convinced he was the son of Richard Shelley - but now I think he must be the son of one of Richards brothers?
WEll, you certainly have me interested in what you have found.
You can e mail me directly if you wish.

RE: William Shelley
Dennis - thank you so much for responding.
No, I did not know about the Shelley reunion - 84th that's amazing!
Have I given you enough info on William Shelley? I do have the census from the years he lived in Henry Co. If the census is correct it list his birthdate as 1826. Do you suspect this is incorrect? I do hope to solve this mystery!
Thanks for taking an interest. We live in Virginia Beach, VA. but I was born in Indiana.

William Shelley
Dear Dennis,
I am researching my family history, and came across your book "Richard Shelley Family History". I cannot locate my ancestor, William Shelley. I am almost positive that he is related to the Richard Shelley family as he was born in Iredell county, NC. and moved to Henry County, IN. and is buried there. I can't seem to connect the dots regarding Williams connection. I cannot figure how he is related, so hope you can help me. Here is all I know about William:

I believe his middle initial is B. William B Shelley b.May 1, 1826 in Iredell county, NC. and died in Henry County, IN.March 3, 1890.
William was married to Elizabeth Moss Shelley also born in NC. in 1826 and died in Henry County, IN. Aug 23, 1904.

I have found both of their obits, does not mention who his parent are, only that he moved with is parents to Ohio at the age of two, and then to Henry County at the age of ten.
William and Elizabeths daughter, Martha Jane Shelley b. 1851 in Henry County, and married Wm Andrew Mcdowell ( another early Henry County family)Martha Jane Shelley and Wm. Andrew Mcdowell are my gr gr grandparents.

I appreciate any info you can send me thanks.

RE: Just Checking In
Dennis,

I'm so sorry I haven't been on much help lately and have taken so long to get back to you. I am getting by, thank you. Everything has just been a whirl wind the last few months. My half sister Micaela sadly took her life in October, and I think it has really taken affect on myself and my family. I hope all is well with you? Oh, and feel free to use any photos I have taken; I generally ask people cite me as the photographer, so when used for research, it gives the work a citation to point to.

Peter & Sarah Oman Photo Request
Hi Dennis,

Peter & Sarah Oman are not buried in Schoolcraft Township Cemetery in Vicksburg, MI. They are buried in Schoolcraft Township Cemetery in Schoolcraft, MI. This is a case of duplicate memorials and confusion over the different cemeteries under the administration of Schoolcraft Township. Both creators appear to be inactive too. Their memorials (#45836249 )include photos. If you need confirmation about which cemetery is the correct one go to "http://www.kalamazoogenealogy.org/Cemeteries/Search.htm" and do a search of Oman. They have pictures of the stones there too.

Willhide Memorials
I was able to get out to photograph the Willhide and Wade memorials, although the Iowa weather has not been very cooperative so they are not "beautiful" pictures, so I do apologize. With regard to Joseph Willhide's monument, you can probably see that the engraving is quite worn and barely readable. Although probably not until the Spring, I plan to get back out to that cemetery and make some rubbings of some of the older markers to see if I can read any information. I will be sure to update you with anything I find.

Regards,
Allyn Spear
