I recently purchased three business letters at an antique store, written by someone who signed them Austin Allen. The letters are from 1923 and 1924 and were sent from hotels in St. Louis and Kansas City. Some online research led me to the Find A Grave page for Austin Allen Jr. and to you. I have also found the page for an Austin Allen Weeks, who also lived in Missouri, and am attempting to determine which, if either, of the men wrote the letters I possess.
I am a writer and have hopes of constructing a short story based on the letters and their contents. However, I'd be very happy to return the original letters to the family of the man who wrote them, if I can determine who that is. If you'd like to take a look at some scans of the letters and see if anything rules my Austin Allen in or out as Austin Allen Jr., I'd be happy to email them to you.
Elizabeth Grant Parsley Ms Julie, I was wondering did you find where Ms Elizabeth was buried. I would like to know a few more details about the location of the cemetery since the ones on the site are a bit vague. But I am still going to venture out & see what I can find. Do you have some more information on this lady? I have been reading some & her husband was a brave man. Will be waiting for your reply.
Samuel Austin Allen Thanks for having a beautiful memorial for Mr. Allen! I would have never found him as I only had Austin Allen, except I had his dates and then found his wife's obituary. The newspaper archive I have access to didn't have the paper that had his obit. How sad for their children to lose both their parents at such young ages.
RE: Georgia Rainey You are welcome, just wish we had some water with us to wash it off some. Hope you are able to read it. If we happen to go back out there, I will try and have some water with me to clean it and take another, better photo.................God Bless, pam
I will do some investigating and get you a contact to fix Joseph's memorial. I also wanted to let you know I looked for Elizabeth's but I couldn't find her. I'm sad to say there are a lot of missing and broken memorials in Cherry Creek Cemetery. I'm hoping one is not hers. I will be back to look again.
RE: Walter and Helen Rollins Julie: I transferred them to you this morning! I see Walter passed on 9/11! My condolences and please let me know if there are any other Rollins you'd like photos taken of in my area. Steph
